Well, this is the saddest post in the history of posts. The end of an era, really. Dollar Disco , the weekly party that's hosted talent such as Busy P, Derrick Carter, Gigamesh, Flosstradamus and so on, is closing its doors just as it reaches the two year anniversary marker. Last night at Discovery inside Santos Party House, Chicago's disco and soul party starter Kyle Woods aka Kid Color and Canadian deep house and disco purveyor Eddie C joined the ranks of those that have destroyed the party, taking residents VDRK and Free Magic and the denizens inside who came to party along a ride through deep territories and also some familiar places (Woods played a ton of funky pop cuts that most would recognize). It was hot, sweaty and foggy inside--as usual--and we had another great time with our friends. [...]
This Saturday Discovery is back in the basement of Santos Party House after a short stint last month in the upstairs of the venue, with special guest D.J. sets from the excellent Kid Color and Eddie C and residents VDRK and Free Magic will be kicking things off and wrapping things up in high style as usual.
