There are a ton of blogs out there that I admire, but I have a huge crush on Flashlight Tag and Verb/Re/Verb . So when their collective label known as Absent Fever gave me the honor of premiering yet another single from an upcoming release of theirs, I was all sorts of excited. This time it comes by way of Caves, a talented 18-year-old producer out of Los Angeles that is spearheading his efforts with some rather intricate sample-based music. Trying his luck with The Menahan Street Band's "The Traitor", which was originally sampled by KiD CuDi [...]

During the long workweek, I spend a good portion of my day sitting in front of a computer listening to music while I get my work on. As the weekend approaches and the minute's stretch into hours, I catch myself gradually shifting in my seat into an awkward reclining position that almost makes it impossible to sit my body back upright. When coffee doesn't suffice and Red Bull's aren't within reach, I find that it's extremely important to listen to music that will keep me energized and alert throughout the day. Today's playlist is dedicated to this [...]

WZRD disappointed many fans when they announced their album was being pushed back from January 31 to February 28. To make up for it Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius released "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" and "Brake" on iTunes . So finally, after months of waiting, my favorite song by WZRD thus far is officially out in its complete form. The song was renamed in dedication to the mother of Kid Cudi's daughter; stream below:

Kid Cudi is hands down one of my favorite artists. The fact that he had the guts to do something different and create his own lane is something to appreciate. Hate it or love it Cudders new venture with Dot Da Genius is on it's way. Check out the latest from the alternative rock duo know as WZRD. Hit the jump for the mastered version of Brake .

We've heard a snippet and a live rendition , and now we have the album version of "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie," by Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius (collectively WZRD). Cudder turned 27 yesterday, and what better way to celebrate than to make some $$ by putting his track up on iTunes? I can only think of a few better ways, but it's probably best that Cudi chose this one. Check out "Teleport 2 Me" below, and look out for the WZRD album dropping February 28th.
Whenever a hip-hop artist attempts to make a "rock" album, the shit sucks. That's a proven fact. We're lucky then that I can't really consider Kid Cudi to be a "rapper". He's always been too spacey and weird to be contained in a stereotypical genre like that. The uneducated say that his upcoming WZRD album is him attempting to go the rock route - but again, he's too bizarre to just attempt a rock album. I see it as him wanting to explore other sounds and mess with different kinds of productions from what he's grown accustomed to. With that [...]

Kid Cudi first gave fans a taste of his and Dot Da Genius' WZRD single "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" two weeks ago, during a Heatwave Festival gig in Middleton, Australia . And today the song, which samples Desire's electro jam "Under Your Spell", has hit iTunes. Perhaps its no coincidence — Desire's tune appears on the soundtrack to Ryan Gosling flick Drive , which also is released today on DVD. Hear the studio version of the WZRD song, as well as Desire's original, below! WZRD — "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" [...]

Following the announcement from homegrown eclectic duo WZRD that their debut release would be pushed back to end of March, Kid Cudi + Dot da Genius do follow up with their promise to release two tracks in advance, one of which is below in "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie". Apparently taking after the mother of Cudder's first child, this track's got a beautiful and easy-to-listen tone that rivals some of the darker stuff we've seen the Cleveland experiment with over the past year. Stream below and purchase both "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" and [...]
Kid Cudi may have pushed back his collaborative album with Dot Da Genius , WZRD , from January 31 to February 28, but he did release a new single from the album, the Drive soundtrack-sampling "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie." The atmospheric jam is almost entirely void of the riffage Cudi and Genius threw on other WZRD track "Brake" . It would actually fit effortlessly within Kid Cudi's hazy oeuvre – somewhere between "Pursuit of Happiness" and "Mr. Rager." Whether or not this is a bad thing [...]
With news a few weeks ago that the collaborative project between KiD CuDi and Dot Da Genius known as WZRD was going to be pushed back to Feb. 28, the duo took to the internet today to unleash a new track to hold the fans over. It is called "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" and it features more of that sorrowful emotion that CuDi is so good at expressing. This song was dedicated to the mother of CuDi's daughter, so the drowning adlibs filled with yearning and remorse are certainly expected. Hit the skip to stream the single.

It's been said before and hopefully it will to be said: hip hop is on the rise. Last year we learned that the Internet actually does work as a means for promotion, catapulting hungry artists from nobodies to somebodies over night. By removing the tawdry veil of fake success that defined hip hop of the mid-Aughts, the Internet empowered kids who were interested in expression. Because of that exposure, the power in hip hop is gradually being transferred from out-of-touch superstars to those who care more about advancing the genre. So that puts us in 2012. If this [...]

O.K. here's something from Cudder worth listening to. Mark my words, you won't hear much more of it anytime soon. I'm saying this whole collabo project (GloryUs) they've been talking about for the last five years is never coming. Wait til that Wizard album drops, not hating on Dot, but I'm damn sure he'll be producing that whole thing. I've heard CuDi play with a guitar in his hands and it is not the prettiest thing you've ever heard. Anyway, fuck the majors, right? Dude's give up everything, I don't even like to pay attention [...]
