Well, it's finally out in the wild, the last seven months of my life have come to fruition as we are amazingly proud to present ' electronic rumors volume 1'. I won't go on about it, it's possible that i would have a hard time reviewing it objectively, so take a listen to Ride The Universe's awesome minimix of the compilation featuring all 15 tracks. It's almost weird that it's real now and if you like physical media I would really recommend the CD, it comes in a stunning DigiPak designed by Sebastian Bentler [...]

The end of this month sees the long awaited release of Kid Kasio 's début album, 'Kasiotone'. In the years before electronic rumors started, and the ElectroPop resurgence of 2007 onward, a band called The Modern (later Matineé Club) was one of the UK big hopes for rocketing intelligent SynthPop back into the spotlight. Unfortunately due to mis-management and major label problems The Modern's fame was never realised, but ever cloud has a silver lining. Had The Modern never split up then Nathan Cooper may have never adopted his Kid Kasio alter-ego and brought to [...]
We really look forward to a new Kid Kasio video almost as much as a new Kid Kasio track! The man has an eye for authentic 8'80's visuals as much as an ear for authentic '80's sounds. His new clip is for 'Living My Life' (which was actually the first Kid Kasio track we heard, the track that made us fall in love with his music), if the exotic location looks familiar, that's because it was filmed on location in Antigua on very the same beach Duran Duran cavorted on for their 'Rio' video. [...]

Here is a new video for a new song by Kid Kasio . The words 'new song' are important here, if you're a connoisseur of 80's electropop. Wait for the first moments of bongo percussion to kick in and you will recognise the beat as a sample from New Song by Howard Jones ; a big chart hit from the decade of outrageous haircuts and big shoulder pads. Kid Kasio delightfully digs into this period and finds pop synthtopian gold with perfect production and a terrific song. [...]

Kid Kasio 's back! With a lovely little electropop tune. Yum!
UK SynthPop wizard Kid Kasio is back with a brand new tune and video. Shot on location in New Orleans at their 6 Flags theme park ,which was destroyed by hurricane Katrina in 2005, Nathan Cooper once again proves that with talent and vision you really can do it yourself, without a major labels budget, and produce indistinguishable results. His latest tune, 'Over And Over', perfectly captures that meeting of melancholy and hopefulness that was only really done well in the 80's with reflective and nostalgic subject matter set against uplifting melodies. The video [...]

Kid Kasio has a beautiful website. Be sure to check out that boom box to hear great synthpop.

Kid Kasio has done it again! The guy is a one-man SynthPop machine! It amazes me that Nathan Cooper (Kids' alter ego) can churn out sweetly written and slickly produced tunes with clever videos with no label backing (yet)! His latest track is 'The Reason', pure 80's Pop with a riff so infectious I had been humming for weeks before the song was released based on a 30 second studio clip! Kid Kasio's knack is writing 80's inspired songs without falling into any (not one single one) of the clichés so often , and easily, [...]

Take a visual reference from Talking Heads videos, a funky synth-disco sound reminiscent of Deniece William's 1984 hit Let's Hear It For The Boy , a hooky day-glo chorus straight out of the Smash Hits (r.i.p) songbook and with Peter Powell on introduction duties out of Top of the Pops (r.i.p) and boom, you've got the new song from ex-Modern man Nathan Cooper aka Kid Kasio entitled The Reason . The video went up on You Tube yesterday the same [...]

You might remember our infatuation with Kid Kasio 's Not for turning a while back. It even made it to my personal APC Top 20 of 2010 (#14). We're happy to share his new tune and video, The Reason - a pitch-perfect rendition of the best of the eighties. Think 1983, and Break Machine hooking up with Robert Smith - on happy pills... Sort of.
Kid Kasio has posted a brilliant new and very catchy synthpop track! Listen to "The Reason" below or on his myspace page. I played his song "Not For Turning" on my new podcast. Get it here . The Reason by kidkasio
Synthpop as I like it: My love for this sound is re-kindled tonight. OK, not really re-kindled, but more hopeful. Synthpop is not fading away and that makes me happy. Kid Kasio is doing it right, an upbeat 4 minute pop tune that reminds me of Howard Jones. Follow him on Twitter . You should be able to download this song from The Hype Machine .
And so we move onto our song list, this was even harder than the album list! So we eventually ended up separating our 'top tracks' list into 'top songs' and top reMixes' , which gave us the breathing room we needed. Here's the songs, the best song award might be surprising to some, but it's an amazing song that got played to death here and with our original top track of 2011 moved over to the reMixes list this song took the top spot. Without further ado, the winner is… electronic rumors' [...]
Remember The Modern (nee Matinee Club)? The UK's bright hopes for proper ElectroPop success back in the mid-90's. Who were, let's face it, slightly ahead of their time. Had they been releasing the singles they did a few years later to a Little Boots & La Roux obsessed public dominance would have been theirs. What are they up to now? Well, founder and producer/songwriter Nathan Cooper is back to bring a little electronic Power Pop into your grey little lives as Kid Kasio . The early to mid 80's, the last time out country was in financial [...]

Way back in April we posted a blog that asked the question Whatever Happened to The Modern ? Their glamorous vamped up electronica was so out of step with the times, yet The Modern found an audience and strutted romantically into the charts for a while before everything went pear shaped. Seven months later we can give at least part of an answer to the question. For Ex-Modern member Nathan Cooper is now solo under the name of Kid [...]
Kid Kasio - Not for turning [ mp3 ] Hooked up with Kid Kasio. Established rather quickly we share the same taste in music. And right now I'm happy as Larry, cos they were kind enough to send me one of their tracks as well. It evokes the decade I'm rather gaga for myself, to say the least, and it'll come as no surprise to you that it is filled with catchy electro poppy hooks galore. Make sure you pop over to their MySpace and give them some love. There's another tune up there for [...]
