Hey everyone! Welcome to Friday, which around here means new music. There are singles, remixes, and covers from your favorite bands, as well as mp3s from some up and comers you just might want to check out. Plus, thanks to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Friday promotion, we have sweet new rhymes to look forward to from now until Christmas. And this week is extra special since it marks the end of our three year anniversary extravaganza. So we figured we might as well go out with a bang, cramming in as much music into this piece as we could possibly [...]
The raunchy pixie/ex-sitcom star and her band bring out their inner cheerleader.

PLUG IN YOUR ALBUM AND GET UPDATED… IMMEDIATELY! In what could signal the breaking down of the wall between artists and their fans, SoCal garage-pop rockers KILLOLA ( www.killola.com ) have joined forces with Aderra, Inc. ( www.aderra.net ) to create a multi-media, living and breathing electronic "umbilical cord" that instantly connects the creative process with the audience. This Familiar Smile Killola Permanent Ability

For a girl who appeared on the Cosby Show and King of Queens , Lisa Rieffel is surprising vulgar. She raised her middle fingers high above her 5'2" frame when took the Studio at Webster Hall stage Tuesday night with her band Killola. Though she lowered them to sing, for the next sixty minutes they stayed up in spirit. Live, Killola pays winking homage to the snot-nosed brats of early punk. On record the band's garage-pop tunes are carefully constructed rock and roll throwbacks, but on stage self-awareness vanishes. The [...]
Group kicks off "Hell On Heels" tour today with Semi-Precious Weapons and Von Iva . "Teaching quirky '80s new wave pop hooks how to stomp glitter-rock-style, I Am The Messer just might pack as many eccentric but indelible melodic and rhythmic twists into its 10 songs as any rock record this year" – Chuck Eddy ( Village Voice, Billboard Magazine ) "You'll need to brace yourself for the drool-able Lisa Rieffel , who blazes over Sparks -like tracks like she just gave Gwen Stefani a [...]

Frequent mutterings are reaching these green and pleasant shores. Self promoted Garage Pop fronted by Lisa Rieffel is gathering some serious momentum. Killola are really what No Doubt should have strived to be and what Blondie was never gonna be, welcome arms to an amphetamine fuelled X-Ray Spex, phonetically speaking of course. The album `I Am The Messer` is free to download, includes spontaneous brand advertising throughout which might raise the odd puri st eyebrow, hey! it`s free and we`re all helpless pawns in a capitalist society, [...]

[Joel and Benji Madden celebrate their birthday today, on what apparently is a popular day to be born, judging from the number of reminders on my pesky my social networks. Can we just automate the huzzahs?] It's not his birthday until Saturday, but tonight's installment of Low End Theory at the Airliner is being called the DJ Nobody Drinking Contest. Nobody [pictured], as part of Blank Blue , is performing along with Free Moral Agents . ... That show, along with many others, is making it [...]

Killola Genre: Rock / Idol / Garage From: Los Angeles, California, United States Cults of all kinds seem to spring up in Los Angeles. It is a city well known for its history of obsessive sects, but few L.A. rock bands have ever enjoyed the kind of rabid fervor of its fans nationwide as Killola. The underground buzzsaw pop band's latest album 'I Am The Messer' has [...]

You'll need to brace yourself for the drool-able Lisa Rieffel , who blazes over Sparks -like tracks like she just gave Gwen Stefani a bloody nose." – L.A. CANNIBAL CHEERLEADER SXSW PICKS Late last week the latest round of South By Southwest lineup announcements inspired a lot of talk across the blogosphere. From world-renowned rockers like Primal Scream, to indie superstars like Ra Ra Riot , to little-known but still-fantastic bands like Fight Bite , the lineup is pretty stellar, albeit overwhelming. How is a SXSW attendee supposed to take in the 1000+ bands that will be descending on Austin in Mid-March? And how can we as a [...]

Casting around for more musical gummy fish (drool), I checked Lito Music , whose musical tastes in posting seem consistently good, and found yet-another-band-I-never-heard -of - Killola . Sure enough, the songs Lito linked to were very fine, in a mainstream'ish intelligent, 80's girl-rock sort of way; so the offer of a free album was only too tempting. Naturally, it was an email sign-up, which is fine n dandy; although I did wonder what the word 'sponsored' next to each track meant. Turns out it meant every last song has an (after one or two) potentially irritating, [...]

I am going to be upfront on this one, and tell you I found out about this band at my family's Christmas. The lead singer, Rachael Petit just happens to be my cousin, but that doesn't change the fact that this Atlanta band is on the rise. The Soundtrack will be releasing their debut ep, Rumor Has It , this month, and they are currently participating in a local battle of the bands contest ( vote here ). Their sound is pure power pop, but the strength and depth in Rachael's lyrics give them the added element [...]

Life is good for one of the Internet's most successful do-it-yourself bands. Since unleashing I Am The Messer for free online back in August, Killola has watched its sophomore album be downloaded over 30,000 times, all while the L.A. natives have hit the road in both the U.K. and U.S. Oh yeah, and they've some how managed to garner 80,000 friends on MySpace in the process, which is perhaps the most unfathomable part of their early success. Showing no signs of slowing down, Killola has unveiled another round of North American tour [...]

Killola [ Official Site , Myspace ] is three boys and one girl, making rock music out of Los Angeles, California. The band???s brand of garage pop (described as ??? Others go as far as to tattoo themselves with the band???s logo which is a bit crazy, [...]
