I found a lot of great music this month, more than I can (or wish to) fit on this playlist. I purposefully ignored everything I featured in this post , also all discovered this month and highly recommended (and ps, some of these songs come from the same sources). Shugo Tokumaru: Lahaha [via Rawkblog ] Centro-Matic: Only In My Double Mind [via Pop Headwound ] Jason Urick: The Crying Song (Album Mix) [...]

The most wonderful time of the year, right guys? 'Twas the end of December, and all through the blogosphere, not a creature was stirring, except for the sounds of music writers springin' chub, strokin' egos, and Bon Iverin' via the storied tradition of the "best of" list. Well, The Decibel Tolls participates in that jive as well, save for the latter. Be it as it may. So yeah, man... 2011... shit. 2011 was a turbulent and gnarly year, and as such, we've been treated to some truly stellar music. Funny how that works - civic and economic tension [...]
![[Contraband] Kim Jung Mi – Now](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3085473_lg.jpg)
Spiritual scholars often debate the nature of souls, but I think this obscure gem from Kim Jung Mi acts as a great litmus test. This is some of the most undeniably beautiful music laid to tape - if you are not touched, perhaps you are what Father Malachai Martin calls "the prefectly possessed." That's hyperbolic, of course, but try to listen to album opener "Toward the Sunlight" and then tell me it doesn't dive deep into the soul. Finding tangible information on Kim Jung Mi is practically impossible, and finding her 1973 masterpiece Now [...]
I had the good fortune to spend a week in Seoul, South Korea, this past February. The weather was hazy and cold almost every day and the pollution hung in the air like a bad Beijing day, but I still thought the city was pretty cool. It was much bigger than I imagined [...]
Lol and Syd Originally uploaded by SouthcoastingAnother month, another mixtape for another anonymous IMP recipient. There's a different mellow autumnal vibe to this month's offering I think. If you want to hear the tracks, there's a few hyperlinked as mp3s below or you can download the whole mix as two zipped bundles of mp3s, which will be available for a week or so (or 100

Kim Jung Mi The Sun over and over and over and over and over the sun
Yeah, I pretty much jumped up and down when I saw these two reissues. "Wind" and "Kim Jung Mi" have been reissued on CD for a world audience. They're both available from Dusty Groove . Since I've talked about her here , tracks from "Now" have been the most played on my iPod. I've completely fallen for her deep breathy vocals. And while neither of these rises to the level of "Now," I'm psyched as hell to have anything else by Kim Jung Mi at all. [...]
