Missy Prince I just got back from my first SXSW, and I'm not sure I will ever be the same. At least, my liver won't. But really, it was my heaven--live music on every block, food trucks galore, and a never ending supply of cute scruffy boys in well-fitting jeans. But while those last two were nice perks, let's talk about the important thing here: the music! I went to Austin with a stacked

Yes, yes, every week we'll be posting to remind you that we have a brand new playlist up on RDIO for your listening pleasure. Think back over the highs and lows of the last week with an eclectic group of artists to guide you through all your musings- whether drunken, sincere, tearful, joyous... We've got you covered. Our favourite tracks for the week include songs by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds , Kimbra , Arcade Fire, Now, Now and [...]

(Song Of The Day) Kimbra - “Settle Down”( Henry Krinkle remix preview) Henry Krinkle is currently my favorite producer in the game right now. His music is quite refreshing because everyone else is starting to sound all the same. This track will be appearing on the forthcoming Lush Haus Remixes album.
When tickets went on sale (very quietly) for Gotye’s gig at the small and gorgeously historic Wilton’s Music Hall, I had a hunch it would be my first and last chance to see Australian wonderboy Wally de Backer. The buzz was building (thanks to that ubiquitous music video) and pretty soon it would mean bigger [...]

Kimbra Nylon had an ambitious lineup scheduled for their Friday afternoon SXSW showcase, held at the chic W hotel in downtown, Austin. I had my sights set on seeing the lovely Kimbra perform, someone I (and many others) am quite enamored with at the moment. The quirky Kiwi was donned in a flirty puffy pink dress that was regal-meets-80s-prom-revival. Performing with that breathtakingly powerful voice, Kimbra was quite a force on stage. As she beamed and interacted with the audience between songs, she was ever [...]

Song: "Somebody That I Used to Know" Artist: Gotye feat. Kimbra I want to begin with stating how much I love this song. I am guilty of playing certain songs that really hit a chord with me to death. I play and play and play, loving it just as much the last time as I did the first. With that said, I haven't played a song more times in a week's span than Gotye 's "Somebody That I Used to Know". Radiohead 's "15 Steps" is probably its only contender. The [...]

Just far enough away from the musical chaos reigning on the other side of where I-35 bisects Austin, TX, Kimbra brought her her "fantastic band" and brand of eclectic dance-pop to FADER FORT Presented by Converse at SXSW on Friday afternoon (Mar. 16). In a voluminously ruffled red dress, the New Zealand singer performed a half-hour lineup of songs from her upcoming US debut Vows (due May 22), including "Cameo Lover", "Settle Down" and the soulful new jam "Come Into My Head". Watch Kimbra's full SXSW set, plus see more [...]

No more croaking! Only some wild, youthful partying with a touch of rocking added to taste. Oh and more rambling than I've been doing recently (don't leave!). I'm liking where the countdown has been heading these past few weeks. What have you guys been thinking? Also, has anyone come up with any Countdown #100 ideas? I certainly haven't. South by Southwest is a good place to find variety in just about any style of music. But variety doesn't equate to quality across the board, as I found in a Thursday night survey of dance-music acts of various stripes. Things started off decently enough at Austin's The Iron Monkey as I caught the last few numbers by D.C. art-punk act E.D. Sedgwick . Bandleader Justin Moyer has been dishing out subversive, groove-oriented jams in various acts since the late '90s, and this one moves in the same dirty disco step. They were tight, the small crowd was moving [...]

This is my favorite time of year. For a span of about five-seven years, I would migrate south to Austin for SXSW and that typically meant that it was time for March Madness. I've never filled out a bracket before, just sat on the sidelines while hearing about some 16th seed ruining somebody's bracket. I entered my first bracket challenge, and happy to report that I'm in second place. There's still tons of games to go, but not a bad first day. I really thought CSU was going to finish off Murray St, alas, I chose with [...]

@Seraphina_L on Wednesday at SXSW: Kimbra (also known as Kimbra Johnson) is now known as an Australian artist but she was mostly known for being the female New Zealander who lent her vocals to Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." Now after the smash hit, she's moved to Melbourne and is also getting ready to release her U.S. first full-length, "Vows" (slated for a May 22 release via Warner Bros. Records). To kick things off right, Kimbra and her band made their live U.S. [...]
L'unica new entry è "Somebody That I Used to [...]

Aussie songbird via New Zealand, Kimbra, is making her US debut at SXSW tonight with her band. She has released her debut album, Vows. to the southern hemisphere and has been working on some new songs to add to her US release of Vows. Word on the street is she has been collaborating with Mark Foster from Foster The People on one of the songs! She is also going to be touring with Gotye while she is here singing their song, "Someone That I Used To Know" which you probably have heard by now but may not have associated the [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , RPM , Q + A Craig Banks Last year, New Zealand pop eccentric Kimbra gained her first real exposure in America -- exposure being the operative word. The 21-year-old singer appears on Aussie riser Gotye 's breakout 2011 single 'Somebody That I Used to Know,' and in the video, both wear nothing but body paint and the pained expressions of scorned lovers. [...]

The respected gravy train with Gotye booties & Gucci platform shoes is by far steamrolling ahead to distance quarters, so we stop for a wee moment to take a sneak little peak into its carriage, before it departs hastily again for destination unknown. France’s Michael Creange opts for plenty of Cuban and tropical spreads; looping some Oceanside congas & river quenched drums into the pot - and by throwing in any other percussion instrument that he can find - managing to execute its remix-self into a subtle & moderate number. Meridian [...]
