All this listening to Gotye's album Making Mirrors has inspired us to revisit some 80s' pop-rock gems. The Police's impressive oeuvre is one of them. This track strikes a chord with us as we found it in a stack of childhood Video Club pirated VHS's a while back. Lovely tune! I've heard this song by Australian artist Gotye a bunch of times in the last week and every time I hear it makes me stop and listen to it. Somebody I Used To Know isn't a obviously catchy song or loud or even fast-paced, but something about it makes me listen to it and like it. Take a listen to the song below and see what you think:

Kimbra, born and bred in Hamilton, New Zealand, has been blowing up recently because of this track , but she’s an artist in her own right. Kimbra’s been writing a fusion of jazz and soul for over 5 years, known for her erratic but graceful voice inspired by Björk and Jeff Buckley. I particularly dig this song: Settle Down by Kimbra — Basil
New bootleg from Hyper Crush. I do enjoy getting these in my inbox. No added raps in this one. Can anybody tell me where the 'lets f&c*in rage' sample is from? mp3
You'll see what I mean when you listen to the episode. I feel like I'm in one of those situations where I'm playing catch-up. I mean, it's not as bad as it used to be, but this is the latest I've been putting a countdown together in MONTHS. I suppose it'll get better, right? It seems like everyone and their grandmother is playing Gotye and Kimbra's hit single "Somebody That I Used To Know" off of last year's Making Mirrors . We certainly don't mind. LA-based producer Groundislava slows down and makes the track quite trippy in his 'cool mix'. Definitely worth a listen, check it out below. [Via Prefix ]
Robotic Pirate Monkey just released their official single/remix to Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know". There's tons of remixes out there but I think this is one that really does take the song in a different direction, while keeping many elements from the original that make it great. Listen and DOWNLOAD below. Previous: Robotic [...]

Best remix so far by a long shot! Two French DJs Magnus & Timon, who met by coincidence last year at the Brixton Academy, which for all of you who don't know is one of the biggest music venues/theaters/clubs in London. Their style sounds very similar to that of Alesso's, with short breaks met by high pitched synths and flute like melodies. I haven't really been the biggest fan of Gotye & Kibra's original release of Somebody That I Use To Know , but what Magnus & Timon have done with it, now I can't stop listing to it! EnJoy and if [...]
We've had our eye on Wally DeBacker aka Gotye for a long while, certainly as far back as his video debut of " Eyes Wide Open " back to his very first hit " Hearts A Mess " which sounds a big familiar when you listen to his international hit " Somebody That I Used To Know " from this latest release Making Mirrors . Now watch as his shares with us today, "Easy Way Out" Wally is on a North American Tour with Kimbra and will be performing at this year's Coachella Festival [...]

Popping Up is our recurring look at new artists making noise on the music landscape. Because, hey—Madonna and Britney were once unknown, too. Kimbra is somebody that you really should know. The New Zealand-born singer/songwriter is currently shooting up the Billboard Hot 100 courtesy of her cameo on Australian pop pioneer Gotye's unexpected worldwide smash hit "Somebody That I Used To Know" . Her contribution to the acidic breakup anthem adds a much-needed female perspective to the gloomy proceedings, and showcases the crystal clear vocals that have rocketed her to stardom in the southern hemisphere. Allez Les Bleus!! I woke up this morning to some absolute fire from France in my inbox, that I absolutely had to share with P&B Nation! Magnus & Timon are a French DJ/production duo based out of Paris, that seem to be relatively new to the EDM scene. Their remixes are full of hype and heavy drops, and have a real nice club feel to them. I’m a huge fan of what I’ve heard so far from them, so do yourself and [...]

Gotye has taken pop and alternative and merged them in a beautiful melody. The Australian singer visits everything great about the 80s and bring it to the future. Some jolly tunes from that time didn't quite make it through the rough and rugged terrain of the 90s'. Thankfully, Gotye has penned a number that feels like "Walking On Sunshine" without the schmaltz. This track is an ode to personal rejuvenation and optimistic expectations. The kind of track that would make Peter Gabriel wish he had written it for So . "I Feel Better" is one of these songs that [...]

M-Phazes (I like to think the M stands for "Midas"). His lazy beats and rich jazz tinged productions have brought a healthy dose of sonic gold to tracks by the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Urthboy, Talib Kweli and many more. Have an ear lick of his rework of James Blake's "I Never Learned To Share", re-dubbed "James Blake Never Learned To Make Drums Smack Like This". Also a previous favourite, his special edition remix of Kimbra's "Settle Down", so damn smooth. > M-PHAZES FACEBOOK > DOWNLOAD | James Blake -- I Never [...]
We got sent this today. It is Rita Ora in Radio 1's live lounge covering Sting Gotye 's 'Somebody That I Used To Know. Maybe she did it as two fingers up to Gotye as she's knocked them off the UK number 1 spot this week with, what is quite frankly, the best song of the year so far (wait, was 'We Found Love' this year? No? Good). DJ Fresh ft Rita Ora 'Hot Right Now': And [...]
