Now this one definitely took me by surprise, being a big Muse hate and all. Couldn't find much info on the newly formed, unnamed project, self titled, Nostalgia , but what I can tell you is that this remix is well executed. Big vocals mixed with big bass seems to be the motto here. Theatrical dubstep at its finest... KING CHARLES We may have been in the midst of a general election here in the UK over recent weeks, but it's the aristocracy that are getting our vote today. Not only is this King Charles one fly looking motherfucker, seemingly dressed like the offspring of Amy Winehouse and that other artist adorned with a royal moniker, Prince . Fortunately the musical genes were successfully passed down, as he's also adopted their genuine ability to pen a well crafted tune. In fact his songs punch way above many of the current pretenders to [...]

So with the UK election voting finished, here's a brand new roughed up little gem mined by King Charles , who we featured a number of times on the blog last year , and finally caught live earlier this year . We Didn't Start The Fire was originally a top ten hit in the UK for Billy Joel back in 1989, but King Charles has updated the tune, keeping the melody and revamping the lyrics. So now instead of name checking Richard Nixon, children of thalidomide, Malcolm X and Dylan we get Obama, climate change, [...]

Whether you love him or hate him, King Charles is a guy I've heard mixed reviews about and a name I've been seeing everywhere recently. I accidentally saw him support Charlie Winston at Cargo in 2009, and I've been very keen to see if he had improved since then. The simple answer was yes - a vast improvement. He's an artist that has come a long way with both his songwriting and his stage presence. The night started well, I've never seen so many hot girls packed into the gig [...]

Following on from our recent coverage of the 2010 Camden Crawl our attention now turns to the UK's south coast and the Great Escape, another multi-venue, multi-gig, urban festival held in Brighton. The Great Escape is currently Breaking More Waves favourite event of this nature in the UK, for a number of reasons: The event is three days long, rather than one or two like other similar festivals, enabling you to catch an even greater number of artists, many of whom perform twice at different venues and times. [...]

Last week London based singer/songwriter Lail Arad was set a cool challenge by Q Magazine: throughout Wednesday she had to create a mixtape made entirely of legally downloadable tracks. It was awesome to find out that the Cougar post on Oddysey was included on the mixtape in amongst an eclectic mix of great music. For more [...]

'Stevie Red's playlist' is a monthly edition that showcases ten tracks I am listening to this month. These are either songs and remixes I have discovered, or artists that have been recommended to me, recently signed or one's to look out for in the future. There should be a little bit in there for everyone. Have a listen, it's all yours! Stevie Red. 1. Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed feat. Theophilus London (Penguin Prison Remix) [...]
King Charles = FD1 ( blackcabsession ) "You're the wax in my mustache" There are few words that could actually describe King Charles . If it's not his hair, it's his mustache that does it for you. He toured with Mumford & Sons last year, and is now working on his debut full length album to be released this year. From what I've heard so far, I think it should be some pretty good stuff. He's got uniqueness and originality going for him at least. Also: [...]

Plainly more affable than the 'Prince' edition, west London's King Charles is for all one knows next in line to the folk-pop sovereignty already scooped by the likes of Laura Marling, Noah And The Whale and Mumford & Sons. Why do I surmise this? 'Cause he's BFF with all of 'em and his ditty 'Time Of Eternity' is misfittingly sheer radiance. Jeez, this King needs crowning. Best Track – 'Time Of Eternity'
King Charles is an English musician with the male equivalent of Shingai Shoniwa's hair, whose personality is laden with oddities and music rich in pop-folk with a tinge of psychedelic sass. The literature is light about when the US can expect a release of his debut, but tracks have been floating about the blogosphere for a few months now. "Time of Eternity" contains some fantastic lyrics about
As I recovered from this wonderful Christmas holiday I had a little time to scan through the pile of music from 2009. I realized that there were a number of songs that I simply adored, but... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
I get the feeling that Christmas in L.A shall be a tad weird. Listening to Wham and the Pogues, when it's roasting outside, is throwing me off sync. Just like Last Christmas coming on the radio in the middle of summer. My body and brain are struggling to compute the changes. Another change I am [...]

Here's the latest offering from London's own, King Charles . The video is for his song Love Lust , and is quite good! The production value of the music video, as well as the its story are both worthy of praise. Check it out, and for more of his tracks, head to his MySpace page here .

What does art and music tell you? Maybe about the romance and passion of the creators world? The inside. If they feel too much, and get rich, artists are considered geniuses. but if they feel too much and stay poor they are oddities, strange, or sometimes crazy. At least until they die, and then sometimes they are geniuses after all, just depends on whos buying. I mean, piss yourself in the park, and you'll likely be locked up. Piss yourself on stage and you're just suffering for your art, as longs as someones there to pay for it. So what? [...]
King Charles ' hair is almost as big as the sound of his new single. " Love Lust " begins with a Celtic-sounding folk chant and carefully builds into a full-on auditory experience steeped with relationship and dating advice.

Having made such an almighty pig's ear of last week's listings, I find myself wondering if the gigmosphere really is as thin as it looks this week, or whether I've just managed to make another spectacular arse of spotting the good 'uns again. There's something a little different happening, actually, because Joey Comeau and the Loose Teeth Press are going to be at the Bowery as part of their reading tour tonight, which sounds rather interesting. Also, the Charity Baw at the Roxy on Saturday looks like a bit of a spectacular, [...]

Last night, I attended a show at the Lock Tavern in Camden Town, London. When I first walked into the venue, I thought I was in the wrong place due to the fact that the place is a restaurant. After about a half hour of not even knowing if I was at the right place, I realized there was an upstairs bar (the large "upstairs bar" signs should have given it away). The lineup for the show included two performers I had previously seen, as well as two [...]
The musical emergence of King Charles continues to shock/please me with every passing release. Having seen him appear in various guises at sporadic London gigs over the last few years and generally treating him largely as a comedic figure, his debut single as King Charles was surprisingly good. 'Time For Eternity' was like a classical renaissance overdubbed by disturbing spoken word, matched by a fairly peculiar video . New single 'Love Lust' is even more ridiculous/courageous but, importantly, it is also quite brilliant. The galloping drums, shredding guitar lines, sci-fi sound effects, double tracked vocals [...]
