photo by Dave Lichterman Easily one of the highlights of the already stellar lineup during KEXP's broadcast from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge over Labor Day weekend, King Khan & The Shrines , the nine member garage/blues band blew out the Eve Alvord Theater with a rip-roaring performance. Festooned in feathered headdress and lavender coat, King Khan let the group through one killer song after another - some older favorites and some yet to be recorded - during this memorable set. If you were one of the lucky few in the audience, the memory [...]
The ever-expanding MFNW brought the rock to Portland.
Sunday night of FYF wrapped up the music festival season on a bittersweet note with acts like Beirut, Dinosaur Jr., and Nick Waterhouse, among many more.

Labor Day fun: ► Kitten kicks off its free residency at the Bootleg Bar, at it figures to be a good one — not only did Choloe Chaidez and crew just release a new EP, the New Wave/post-punk-inspired "Cut It Out," but Sky Ferreira (with new music in hand herself) open the show. AB & the Sea and Spaceships also support, and Buzz Bands LA presents the evening, a great way to cap your holiday weekend. ► The Lonely Wild kicks off its residency at [...]

With FYF Fest taking place tomorrow, the festival organizers have decided to put on a fan appreciation show to show how much they "love you". For this show they're bringing in King Khan and The Shrines , Crystal Antlers, Pangea and DJ Keith Morris. That's a jam packed line up! This will all be taking place on Monday, September 3rd at the Echoplex. The best part about this show is that it's totally free! That's right! No tickets to buy and no service fees to bother with. All you have to do is bring your [...]
This weekend, KEXP returns to the Bumbershoot Music Lounge returns for a glorious seventh year bringing intimate performances from some of Bumbershoot's biggest names and broadcasting them live. This year's lineup features an incredibly diverse and talented group of artists, from electro-pop sensations Passion Pit to the legendary indie rockers Low to the Ethiopian funk group Debo Band . Access to these performances is free with a festival pass, but space is limited. Advance signup is already full, but if you still want to attend, be sure to stop by the KEXP [...]

It’s no secret that rock and roll is the province of the young. Ticket prices and attendance figures for tours by classic rock legends, especially the $263 it would cost to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse at Madison Square Garden, may seem to support a different conclusion but the heart of rock and roll doesn’t beat in any particular city like Huey Lewis thought, it lies within the hopes, dreams, energy and spirit of those that feel the world is theirs to conquer. Even rock’s biggest dinosaurs earned their bones by singing about their generation, their street-fighting brethren or [...]

words and photos by Courtney Dudley King Khan / Nicky Da B, House of Vans 7/26/2012 Just as doors opened at 25 Franklin, a dark, ominous cloud rolled over Greenpoint like a barge. Despite threats of tornadoes in the metropolitan area polluting social media outlets all day, a ton of people showed up for the third Vans House Party on July 26th featuring King Khan & The Shrines , Nicky Da [...]

For their first video since 2009, psychedelic garage-soul act King Khan & The Shrines nods to the recent boom of big budget summer superhero movies, as lead singer King Khan takes on the alter-ego of Super KK. Much like their music, the video for Bite My Tongue channels a retro vibe that nods heavily to not only to the campy 1960s Batman television series, but also to absurdity and naughty cheekiness of both Benny Hill and Monty Python. Let's check it out... King Khan & The Shrines - [...]

Bite my tongue is the new single of the amazing King Khan with his band The Shrines. Recorded with a low budget and lots of chroma keys that remember me the funny B Movies.
This King Khan video dropped today and is killing me right now. They are rolling out on tour soon. If you go see them it will be the best decision you have made this year. King Khan & The Shrines - Bite My Tongue
What: King Khan and The Shrines strung together a bevy of talent in this hilarious clip for "Bite My Tongue". Filmed in Berlin, Die Artze's Bela B. stars as Lucifer/Al Capone and electronic guru Rummelsnuff assumes the role of Muscle Man/Cupid. For those who grew up watching the pre-Keaton Batman series, this one's for you. Keyword: ridiculous “Bite My Tongue” shares a split-7” with Mikal Cronin via Bruise Cruise. Directed by: HYLAS
King Khan & The Shrines' first video since 2009 features King Khan's superhero alias Super KK, a figure who teams up with Jesus and others in an extended homage to the Batman television series. Jesus's superpower is shooting wine out of his eyes, obviously. Watch the video for " Bite My Tongue " and check out some tour dates below. HYLAS directs. Read More...
