If you've been even remotely regular in following this blog, our number one shouldn't come as a surprise - I believe I've already bothered you enough with my love of Gang Gang Dance's latest effort (and GGD in general ). I'll leave the list unnumbered because, except for the first 7-8 entries, the rest come in kind of (but not entirely) particular order. And it's not a strictly albums -of-the-year list, as I've included some mixtapes/remix albums/ compilations. Also, I just realised we haven't covered half of this on the blog… Don't [...]

Το υπέροχο Lost in the Pancakes είναι από το σχήμα του κημπορντίστα των Olivia Tremor Control που ονομάζει Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't κλεμένο από κάποιο παιδικό βιβλίο.

★★★★☆ An ear-catcher in dub and dubstep, soul and poetry, King Midas Sound's 2009 effort Waiting for You had honeyed tonsils shared between Roger Robinson and Kiki Hitomi run over by Kevin Martin's oppressive bass. Where Massive Attack became the instant point of comparison, Without You is taken to a more stressful plain by a selection of hired guns pushing down on the source's soothing points. If the first act took you into darkness, the second coming goes further beyond the night, KMS scrabbling on their hands and knees as instructed by [...]

[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] Honestly one of my favorite things Dabrye has done, if Burial ever switched gears in his sound I think it goes something like this. Also, Dabrye is touring again after a long hiatus, here's some dates: 11.09 Los Angeles, CA @ LOW END THEORY (DJ SET) 11.10 San Francisco, CA @ SOM BAR (DJ SET) 11.26 Manchester, UK @ THE ROADHOUSE Too cool for school is the attitude i'm getting from [...]

Without You is due out November 2nd; it includes reworks by the likes of Flying Lotus , Nite Jewel , Hype Williams and others. Japanese artist Yukutake Kato Shimpei made a rad video for the Gang Gang Dance version of 'Earth a Kill Ya'. [ via ] If you can see this, then you might need [...]
Hyperdub are putting out an album of reinterpretations of dubstep choons, and here's the KING MIDAS SOUND 's offerings. wotyougot

Illustration by Pablo Jeffer Da Silva [Hyperdub] One need only look at Kevin Martin's shapeshifting musical history in bands like God, Ice, and Techno-Animal as well as his own alias The Bug, to understand how King Midas Sound so readily leaps between different sounds. Meshing various strands of dub and electronic influence, Martin, along with Hitomi and Roger Robinson, continually open themselves up to rethinking their own [...]

Don't call it a remix! That's the word from the King Midas Sound camp about the sonic re-imaginings that are at the center of their upcoming album release, Without You . While it finds the trio enlisting an impressive array of friends in order to rework tracks from their 2009 debut album, Waiting For You , King Midas means for Without You to be more in the tradition of reggae artists who offer up dub versions of their tracks, especially those who oversee the dubbing themselves. After all, KMS is known for combining reggae [...]

Hyperdub allstars, King Midas Sound , recently released their 12" of two remixes, Kuedo's remake of, 'Goodbye Girl', and Mala's remix of 'Earth A Kill Ya'. Kuedo's retouch of 'Goodbye Girl' is really something. The song first caught my attention when they released the music video for the track earlier this summer, and every since then it's been on repeat. Such an epic sequenced dub tune beginning to end, cannot think of what else to say about it but to listen for yourself. If your a fan of whatever the Midas sound crew does, [...]
Sach O wishes you luck with a capital F girl. In which the former Jamie Vex gets all spooky with King Midas Sound's kiss-off anthem. I'm not entirely sure what's going on in the backwards video but it fits the sonics like a glove and I'm convinced King Midas Sound are the most photogenic band of musicians working right now. As I said in my review of their live show last year, these guys don't wear costumes, they just look like that in real life. Anytime a dub poet, a confrontational iconoclast and a diminutive [...]

As the grim monotony of February draws to a weary close, March and its irrefutable highlight, the Butlins-based Bloc Weekend loom. Taking place over the weekend of 11th-13th March, we've previously featured the likes of Black Devil Disco Club , Siriusmo , SBTRKT and Boxcutter as unmissable acts. Today, add to that list King Midas Sound . If the line up is turntable-heavy, slanted in favour of disc jockeys etc. then bassmonger Kevin Martin (highly regarded under his The Bug moniker), alongside the unnerving lyrical whit of Roger Robinson and vocalist [...]
