Well the end of 2012 is drawing to a close and we've run down the albums that got the most play around RSTB this year. To avoid the list just being a mass of Ty Segall albums Twins (a personal fave of the bunch) takes the place on the list but the other two would have easily made the list, especially the collab with White Fence which got plenty of play around here as well. Some really great releases this year and a banner year for both Drag City and Sacred Bones with some heavy inclusions in our list. [...]

King Tuff added his two cents to the recently released and already sold out Burger Records' The Wiener Dog Comp. For his part the King covered a track from the 1986 animated movie An American Tail, where a mouse and his mouse family immigrate from Russia to the US. Well his royal Highness, Tuff, got out his casio keyboard and puts his stonerific spin on Somewhere Out There. Check it out
King Tuff may claim to be a "bad, bad, bad thing" on one of the best songs of the year , but even the reigning patriarch of deliciously sleazy rock'n'roll has a soft spot for a cute dachshund. The first week in our 2012 Annual Report has come to an end. But what an end it is: our Top 50 Songs of 2012. For this list, we took into consideration the tracks that not only spoke to the year, but each respective act's ability to grow and engage their mind, genre, and sound. Burger Records has put together another compilation benefiting a cuddly wuddly animal. If you recall, the Fullerton, CA label previously released The Kitty Comp to pay for a stray kitten's surgery. Now they've back with a new compilation to aid Popcorn the Dachshund , who needs surgery to remove a growth from her belly. If you're already tearing up, it's totally fine and just proves you're a good and decent human being. The Wiener Dog Comp is comprised of two tapes of 71 unreleased [...]
It's really hard to narrow down a list of Top Albums of 2012, especially when you have four contributors with different opinions. We gave the reins to Nathan.Lankford and Nicole Baumann on this one, since they write the majority of the album reviews, but we all have a little representation within this. Now, we do realize that our site has specialized tastes, so please realize that these are our OPINIONS . You're welcome to disagree, and, in fact, we encourage that process. Riding the wave of their eponymous album’s success, garage rock outfit King Tuff will play The New Parish in Oakland tomorrow night . The Vermont-turned-L.A. based band’s album has been raved about for its layered rock sound. The way singer Kyle Thomas’s airy-almost-nasally vocals mesh with the serious riffs on songs like “Bad Thing” show that this band (thankfully) isn’t too concerned with the checklist of most garage rock bands. METZ at Knitting Factory earlier this month ( more by Fred Pessaro // BBG ) The new-ish free bi-monthly Converse Rubber Tracks series at Music Hall of Williamsburg, which began in June with White Rabbits , continued in August with Action Bronson , and again in October with Ghostface Killah and A-Trak , will continue on December 19 at MHOW with its most rockin' edition yet: King Tuff, METZ, Sean Bones, and Devin .
