Seattle's best (well, and only) punk rock Elvis tribute band live at the SeattlePunk.org Block Party a few weeks ago:

David Stern has to be happy after the Conference Semifinals. Two game 7's and two Conference Finals match-ups with big names: Lebron Vs. Dwight and Kobe Vs. Carmelo . So before we look ahead, we'll take one more look back over the Conference Semifinals real quick. S. Cadet came back like gangbusters this round, picking all 4 series correctly. Everyone else finished close behind with 3 correct picks. Leaving the standings the same as last time (correct team - 1 point. correct length - 1/2 point): Patrick M. [...]

MUSIC NEWS - U2 lead singer, BONO , wrote a poem, American David more than 10 years ago about Elvis Presley . It was recently recorded for a radio producer while taking part in a documentary. BBC 4 will broadcast the 14 minute poem on May 13, 2009 at 11pm. The BBC described the broadcast, which intersperses Bono's verse with bits of Elvis songs and archive news material about the King, as an "atmospheric and artistic feature". [...]

Let's face it; by day 3 of Leeds Festival a good chunk of people have drifted off into super noodle induced insanity or left us for a happier world full of class B drugs. Thankfully, then, the only artists worth seeing on Sunday are on in the evening, leaving time for the horse tranquilizer abusers to sober up with a beer. If at all possible, avoid the criminal banality of middle-of-the-road bands like Funeral For A Friend, Deftones and Fall Out Boy who are happy to churn out rock music that is certainly not particularly offensive, but is numbingly prosaic [...]

Normally when we break the week down we go through the week and pick what we deem worthy of being highlighted again or feel was missed the first time. But in reality, your comments play a big part in what we around here. This week our comments section had the innernuts going nuts © Paul Wall so to speak, so we decided to go what you deemed worthy. - Clocking in with 119 comments (& 9 diggs ) Eminem's new song and video "We Made You" had everyone talking [...]

I was just watching CNN Live for the "meet and greet" of the 10 Downing Street dinner and Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah were greeting all the world leaders of the G-20 summit by the door. All of them: Obama, Mevdev, Sarkozy and the rest. When it was King Abdullah of Saudi came around Sarah went inside and Gordon Brown stood alone to greet him. How absurd and backwards is that. What shame on his part!I hope it becomes huge news tomorrow in the papers. What a complete disregard of her presence and a kick in the stomach to every [...]
The recent premiere of NBC's new drama Kings (Sundays, 8 p.m. Eastern) has quite a few staffers hot for high drama. Following up on Paste managing editor Nick Marino's latest list, Seven Reasons to Start Watching Kings Immediately , we're providing a royal playlist to complement the modern-day monarchy that we'll undoubtedly grow to love, hate, envy, cheer and most likely, gamble on. Set in a city not unlike the Big Apple, there are enough Paste ful placements of magical realism, blood-kin betrayals and star-crossed romances to make [...]

In a recent London Press Conference the friggin King of Pop Michael Jackson announced a new string of 10 London concerts, reportedly his last London shows ever. I dunno about his recent exploits but he made Thriller.... Thriller.
Also Sprach Zarathustra > C.C. Rider - Elvis Presley 4.9.72 - Hampton Coliseum, Hampton VA The legend of Hampton begins with The King. Here are the first two songs from Elvis' first performance at Hampton Coliseum. I find it ironic that these two songs are linked to Phish and the Grateful Dead, who combined have played Hampton 33 times. Elvis would play Hampton again in 1976. "All Shook Up", "Teddy Bear", "Don't Be Cruel", "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and "I Can't Stop Loving You" from the 4/9/72 show are below.

Emily Davison May 1913 - a month before she died No one really knows whether the Suffragette Emily Wilding Davison deliberately killed herself underneath the galloping hooves of Anmer - the Kings horse - at the 1913 Derby. Some say it was just a brave protest that went tragically wrong, after all a return train ticket was found in her handbag, along with an invitation to a suffragette event that evening. However, Davison always knew that it would be a grand, even an ultimate, gesture that would get The Cause properly noticed [...]

"At the end of the game The King and The Pawn go back into the same box." Not sure why I was thinking of that when watching this preview of NBC's new show Kings . It debuts March 15, starring Ian McShane. Okay, that's a plus. Plus the futuristic metroplis under siege sounds like a cool premise. I'm just not sure whether or not the involvement with director Francis Lawrence ( I Am Legend, Constantine ) is a good thing or a bad thing. The show [...]

Imagine what a world it would be like If Elvis Presley hadn't died, weaned himself of drugs, got back in shape and went on to keep recording. Well, Jimmy the King is one Elvis Imitator that dares to dream of this scenario and make it come true as well. Funny enough this guys name is James Brown and he comes from Belfast, Ireland and his day job is postal carrier. He was discovered singing Elvis songs at a karaoke bar. A record producer had the idea to record the Nirvana song "Come As You Are" with an Elvis [...]

From Billboard Magazine:" Michael Jackson might be too sick to travel to London to testify in a suit claiming he owes an Arab sheikh $7 million, the pop star's attorney said today (Nov. 18). Jackson is seeking to give his testimony by video link from the United States. "It would be unwise for him to travel, given what's he's got now," lawyer Robert Englehart said, declining to elaborate "for the obvious reasons." Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa 's lawyer, Bankim Thanki, said the medical evidence presented by Jackson's legal team was "very unsatisfactory" and [...]
