'No Tell' is the debut song from Smoke and Jackal, a collaboration between Jared Followill (Kings of Leon) and Nick Brown (Mona). the song got its premiere on the Zane Low show on BBC Radio 1 yesterday, and comes from EP1 , their first release, due on October 16th. Kings of Leon are FM radio mainstays. For a while there, you couldn't shake "Sex on Fire." Their popularity surged and next thing you knew, the southerners were selling out larger venues. It didn't help that Caleb Followill's dependancy has taken a stronghold over his life and the group. KOL has been on hiatus since late last year. Bassist Justin Followill decided that time is precious and teamed up with Nick Brown from Mona to create Smoke & Jackal. Kings of Leon 's Serpents & Snakes Records are excited to announce that they have signed Snowden , the moniker of Austin, TX-based Jordan Jeffares . Formed in Atlanta in 2003, Snowden released its first full-length album, Anti-Anti , in 2006 via Jade Tree, which was praised by Pitchfork for its "crisply efficient songcraft" and "stylish post-punk." It was a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore,  perfect weather for a night at The Stone Pony Summer Stage. The show kicked off with Moon Taxi from Nashville, TN. They have a southern feel to their songs, reminding me a lot of Kings of Leon and the Alabama Shakes. Nashville based garage-rockers, Turbo Fruits have a wonderfully nasty sound about them. A sound forged out of sweaty garage sessions, and the staunch, repetitive use of power chords. It's down and dirty rock-n-roll reminiscent of early Kings of Leon records. Which makes sense as their upcoming studio album, Butter , is being released through Kings of Leon's Serpents and Snakes Records this September 11th.
