Don't fret too much about Kanye canceling this week's G.O.O.D Friday, guys! A bunch of songs is better than one, right? Hopefully then the latest edition of our Friday Mixtape will be more than enough to tie you over for the weekend. As usual, we've put together a mix of the best new singles, remixes, and covers (courtesy of Cover Me ), along with songs from up and comers you just might want to check out. Plus, all our legal and free to download, so you won't be pissing off Kanye or any of the other artists [...]
The oft-covered Nebraska song walks the line between rock and folk (with a little synthesizer).
I mentioned the band Kingsbury a while back in one of my posts, so why not write about them again? Their latest EP, Lie To Me , came out late last year so isn't particularly new anymore, but it is still good music that you crazy kids have yet to listen to. Their music is likely best described as atmospheric rock, more about setting a mood than blowing your mind with explosive guitar riffs. It is great music to relax to, preferably with a cold brew in hand. Another thing I love about this band is that [...]

Offset Festival Absolutely no excuses for a quiet forthcoming weekend. Granted, August Bank Holiday is probably still etched in the hazy realms of your mind, but trust me, September`s shaping up very nicely for those investing in cultural gatherings. Offset Festival`s scenic forest surroundings with the fantastic advantage of being a stones throw from the capital. Multi stages over two days promise to produce a weekend equally relevant to new artists as the more established line-up. Early September British weather, fingers crossed! [...]

As in our prior Ripple Roadtrip posts, this column is a homage to the wonderful, vast wonderful, wild, and wacky assortment of music that finds it's way into postman Sal's mailbag, and therefore onto our Ripple desks each day. And if there's one thing I love about the Ripple, it's that variety. Here at the Ripple we're one big open mind. Rock, pop, punk, prog, proto-metal, even experimental jazz punk. It don't matter. Our job is simply to write about the music that moves us, each and every day. So today, let's go for another ride in [...]

I'm a big fan of free music, and given that you're reading an mp3 blog I'm guessing you are too. As a fan, free music is pretty darned awesome, but for the creator I'm still not entirely sure what it achieves. Allowing blogs to post a couple of tracks off a current album is certainly a great way to generate some interest in the release (provided, of course, that the music is good enough) but when it comes to giving away an entire catalogue I'm not so sure. Orlando band Kingsbury have done just that. Along [...]

Cortney Tidwell first piqued my attention a couple of years back, after the release of her first album "Don't Let Stars Keep Us Tangled Up". Hailing from Nashville, she was reminiscent of early 90's act The Sundays, mixed with the gentle alt-country of Lambchop. Now, the latter wasn't so much of a shock, given that William Tyler played guitar on it. Hell, Kurt Wagner himself even sang on "Society" from that album. But she very much had her own voice, and whilst I thought the album as a whole was promising with some great songs [...]

Kingsbury has been at the top of my listening pile for what seems like weeks but is more likely months. Their latest release Lie to Me is a beautifully nuanced post-rock work (you can download the entire EP at the bands official site ). The band recently released a pair of covers Bruce Springsteen 's "Atlantic City" and Tom Petty 's "Southern Accent" featuring Matt Butcher on vocals. Each track is a quiet reflection on the original, capturing the essence of the lyric and definitely worth the listen. Kingsbury - [...]

Dead Heart Bloom began in 2005 after the break-up of the D.C. band Phaser. The band's singer, keyboardist and bassist, Boris Skalsky, picked up the pieces to form Dead Heart Bloom, at first writing and recording by himself.Dead Heart Boom began expanding in 2007 when Skalsky collaborated with guitarist Paul Wood, and now the band is a four-piece, with a rotating cast of guests. The sound can be

KINGSBURY Barney Stinson'a göre karışık kasetler slow parça içermemeli. Back In The Orange Grove

i love taking my time with things. it sometimes gets frustrating for others, but for me nothing beats having that time and space to breathe and find my own footing. i also love music that takes its time to develop its mood, atmosphere, character and ideas without rushing to follow a particular formula or fit within a certain genre. i'm reminded of these personal preferences of mine when i listen to the music of kingsbury , especially in their most recent ep lie to me , a record that glows in full recline, intricately crafted and subtly ornamented. [...]
Well guys, I've been thinking… There are tons of blogs that cover

Shoegaze, or as it's also known, dreampop, is one of those genres that when done not so well, is pretty tedious and self-indulgent, but when done really well, can sound more like star gazing than shoegazing. Having said this, I will now introduce two bands who are doing more of the latter than the former: Finnish band Pooma and their debut album, Persuader , and Florida band Kingsbury and their new EP, Lie to Me . While both pieces are captivating, they come at the shoegaze genre from different ends of the spectrum and at different angles of [...]

Florida-based three piece, post-rock band, Kingsbury, made its way into my head with the mellow track, "Back in the Orange Grove" from their newly released Lie To Me [EP] , which you can check out and download here for free , courtesy of the band. Don't you love digital music distribution? I sure do. As a direct follow up to their first LP, The Great Compromise (which you can also get for free online, right here ), Lie To Me incorporates some great piano, slightly entrancing guitar melodies, and vocal melodies [...]

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then taking styles proven to be successful and not quite imitating them, but putting your own spin on them and creating a new sound is a step away from flattery in the direction of being recognized for greatness in your own right. Rambling, majestic Nordic bands are a known commodity, especially with the amazing success that Sigur Ros has had the past few years. With lush strings and hauntingly beautiful female vocals, Pooma builds on this style, adding their own Finnish twist to the [...]

![Kingsbury: Lie To Me [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1555250_lg.jpg)
Lie To Me , the new EP by Kingsbury ( MySpace ), is mysterious in all its splendor. Lacking a true genre, it resides somewhere in-between. Fitting; listening to it takes you elsewhere as too, a place undefinable, encased within the mind. It's not quite hypnosis, but it's not necessarily what the common person would call reality. Still, there are various descriptive terms attributable to Kingsbury, terms that fit and terms that provide clarity. Terms like mellow and peaceful and soothing. Its spacious soundscapes give [...]
