E ven though Transmission didn't approve of my Chicago food picks a few posts ago, I'll forgive them. And fellow Chicagoans, I'd love to hear what your favorite places to eat in the city are. What recommendations do all of you have for our out of town Lollapalooza guests? Speaking of food, I found out today that there is a little restaurant near my workplace called Mr. Hot Dog and that one of their specialties is called a "Burrito Bacon Double Dog" which consists of two hot dogs, bacon strips, chili, cheese, [...]

I hated how they portrayed Wisconsin in this film. They missed the boat completely. But the music is pretty good. Fastball ~ Fire Escape Marc Cohn ~ I Hope I Don't Fall In Love With You (Tom Waits Cover) Kinky ~ Presidente More Soundtracks Buy from Amazon
Sometimes you just need a little music to pelvic thrust to. S'true, deep thinking and obscure lyrics need not always apply. Sometimes you just wanna throw on some heavy basslines and catchy beats to dance your ass off to. Lucky for us, Kinky's Reina knows how to party. Pour some Kinky on your corn flakes and groove up the morning with "Lay Back" after the jump. Mmm groove flakes. Kinky "Lay Back" Let the rhythm seep into your spine. "Lay back and let it go [...]

Heather (from I AM FUEL...) put together a double disc of driving music. I made this mix for my wife, who likes to drive fast. Figured now's a good time to share as driving music is whizzing thru the blogsphere. It's a nice collection of tunes that goes from Latin to mashup to "heavy metal" back to Latin, some smooth electronic, then toss in some hippity-hop and finish off with a Minnesota classic (yes, I am a Gearhead). Sidebar: Is there anything worse than driving to work on slushy/salt-drenched roads when you're out of windshield [...]
In spite of the fact that their country is upside down, Australians have still managed to produce some of the best rock and/or roll around. And I ain't just talking about Business As Usual. Actually, can we for a second? No no, wait, that's a whole 'nother post. Point is, The Grates are, well, great. Seriously. Never has a band lashed out with such a masterful blend of fey and ferocious. If Yeah Yeah Yeahs were a little more huggable, maybe. Or if The Boy Least Likely To were arrested tomorrow for just plain kicking the shit out of somebody...
How i found this band, I'll never know. Hello Lobster hail from Portland, Oregon and Casio Keyboards will forever be in business so long as these guys and their "myspace" top 12, top 8, top whatever are making music. With trashy ease, Hello Lobster prove that just when you thought no one was rapping to scar guitars and processed drum beats... you thought wrong. I liken Hello Lobster to the Samuel L Jackson movie Snakes on a Plane , while you put on your Napoleon Dynamite voice and think [...]
The new Kinky album, Reina, has been storming its way to the top of my own personal Top 10 list. It’s a killer record with a huge sound and a wide array of influences and styles that, in the end, act as a means to get you and your ass shaking. I love it. Not only do you get a healthy does of dance and eletronica, but you also get that jangly, post-punk guitar sound (a’la XTC or Talking Heads)

If you answered yes to the above question, you've come to the right place. The band is Kinky (no really, that's their name) and the album is Reina , which roughly translates to "It Reigns!". The band is from Monterrey, Mexico and they are bringing the fiesta back the only way they know how--by getting you on the dance floor and laying down the beats. One of the best songs is "Leon" which sounds like a sped up version of a Ratatat's song (Panther sounds and all). The buzzy [...]

Play it: Kinky Reina While we're still on the subject of Nip/Tuck promos , for seasons 1 & 2 the song that was used to perfection was Kinky 's "Mas," from their self-titled debut from 2002. That song was all over the place... in television commercials, as theme to a NBC mini-series... it seemed Kinky was on the verge of breaking out. Unfortunately, their second release, Atlas [...]
Kinky Kinky are a five piece band from Monterrey, Mexico. They formed in 1998, and have already released two albums - 2002's self titled debut and 2003's Atlas. Tomorrow sees the release of their latest record Reina. Sonically it picks up pretty much where they left off. These guys are pretty eclectic, a mash up of Mexican tropicalia, hip hop, pop, indie rock, electronica and a touch of
