With a week of awesome weather (not just for Seattle, I mean period .) comes a very back-heavy bevy of both shows to go peruse and enjoy. Friday, though, is Hood to Hood 2012 , the festivities of [...]

Hey ladies! (Yeah!) You don't need no man! (Okay!) Well, if you're in a band with a man and you haven't had a chance to replace him with a woman who rocks harder then you you might want to keep him around until further notice. But other than that, you don't need a man! Because you're [...]

On Tuesday night, Miike Snow and Penguin Prison are at the Paramount, Explosions In The Sky [...]

What can we say about Hawkwind? Certinaly nothing describes their prime-era better than Julian Copes words - "They were a collection of disreputable star rats fuelled by a battery of hallucinogenic influences and united only by an incorrigible sense of psi-powered, pre-1976 cosmic punk rock attitude broken off and gobbled as though it was their sole means of sustenance while playing riffs into

Thirty nine years ago, the biggest raid that had ever been staged in America's war on drugs took place when a task force of state, local and federal law enforcement agencies combined to take down a secretive group of hippie acid dealers and hashish smugglers known as the Brotherhood of Eternal Love. On August 5, [...]

Ballard’s rockin’est venue, The Sunset Tavern , is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this June. Back in 2000 when it opened, Ballard Ave was much a quieter place flanked by tiny fishing houses rather than Condo- maximums . The Sunset was actually one of my first 2 stops when arriving in Seattle, the other being the Tractor, and they're still my favorites. It's a small space with big sound and bigger bands. Since it’s inception The Sunset stage has been graced by amazing acts such as The Fleet Foxes, Camper Van Beethoven, Of Montreal, The Cave Singers... I [...]
Noise for the Needy , a nonprofit charitable organization based in Seattle, has announced the headliners for its annual festival, scheduled to take place in June (dates are still forthcoming). Since 1992, the organization has been staging such festivals, with each year benefitting a different cause. This year’s event will raise funds for Teen Fund , an organization, which, since 1989, has been serving some 11,000 meals each year to Seattle’s more than 600 homeless youth. Headliners for this year’s festival include The Album Leaf , Visqueen , [...]

To me eMusic always seemed like the digital music store for the underdogs. It was the online equivalent of your local hole in the wall record shop. The place where you’d find bins overflowing with obscure punk CD’s and out of print LP’s. Visiting eMusic now seems a bit too much like browsing the racks at the local Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

As I told you before , Klaus & Kinski has been playing on my iPod a lot lately, but I'm not alone, actually, the Spanish media is calling them the breakthrough act of this year although their album was released in 2008. We learn through Jenaispop that they are releasing an EP titled Porque no me das tu dinero? this upcoming week, so I'm excited. Here is the leading single "Nunca estas a tu altura" which is part of their LP Tu Hoguera Esta Ardiendo so I can already sing along, it's an awesome song [...]
