I have a lot of respect for those artists that are making their own way. So, in one way, this post is a tribute to those that operate their own labels and maintain their musical integrity (not to say that those signed to major and minor labels don't have musical integrity). For that reason, I'm [...]

(Photo credit : Kevin Beaty) Kirsten Price is a UK singer who's got a new album out called Brixton To Brooklyn . She came a bit out of nowhere for me, more precisely through an e-mail submission. I must say I'm happy I listened to the whole record because it is really enjoyable. Sonically it's a mix of various sounds and influences ranging from pop, rock and R&B. We got to ask Kirsten a few questions, read her answers after the jump and [...]

Kirsten Price is DEFINITELY one to keep your eye out for. The British singer/songwriter is about set to release her self-produced album, Brixton To Brooklyn on September 7th through indie label KPI, Inc . Lead by first single, " With Or Without You " the 9-track album is full of slick pop/rock/R&B tracks sure to get your blood pumping (much like her sexy single artwork above) and body moving. Her album strikes a nice balance with mid and up-tempo numbers [...]

British singer/writer/producer Kirsten Price tells it like it is on the flaming pop-rock stomper, "With Or Without You," that is taken from forthcoming new album "Brixton To Brooklyn." Reality TV fanatics among you may have heard the song played in one of the concluding episodes of MTV's The Hills. It is a hearty brew of pop that deals with "the delicious push and pull of a toxic relationship." Powerful stuff that reminds me of Pink a bit. Kirsten Price "With Or Without You"

Kirsten Price has been hard at work in the studio and has finally announced the release of her new album 'Brixton to Brooklyn' due out late this summer. The new album cover unveiled features a stunning close up shot of this British songstress who tells us that even though it is still a far cry from your standard singer songwriter fare, this second offering is definitely more focused on "the songs themselves" rather than the delicious ear candy "soundscapes" that she has dished up to date. [...]
Industry bible Billboard Magazine tells us that Kirsten Price "should offer triple A radio a new star". This Britt-born, Brooklyn-based singer has fashioned a genre bending sound that Metromix refers to as "A sassy spin on soul music". Even before the release of her debut album 'Guts & Garbage' , Kirsten Price's music had been featured in such heavyweight television shows as the L-Word, CSI , and Cashmere Mafia . She has already toured extensively on her own, and served as the hand picked opener for Wyclef Jean , and more recently, [...]

As usual well past due, here's the latest (and not-so-latest) from the Licorice Pizza mailbox. There's a pretty good selection of stuff here; something for everyone's palate, I think. My personal pick of the litter is the tune from Brooklyn's TK Webb & the Visions, "Teen is Still Shaking." This is a spacey metal song with Dylan-esque vocals. My vote for weirdest song is Lexicon's hip-hop take on the Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated." And winning the honor for "Singer I'd Most Like to Leave Everything For" is Kirsten Price. Like always, follow the [...]

Kirsten Price- Magic Tree (Link 2) (Link 3) I'll be honest- I'm not a singer-songwriter guy by any stretch of the imagination. You could stretch Sufjan Stevens into that category, but his music is extremely inventive and massively expansive. Lightspeed Champion is too honest, relevant and depressed to be cornered. Scouring my library, Paolo Nutini is about as much as I can stand in short stints. So basically it's not really my thing. I am, however, open to those who want to change my opinion. And Kirsten Price really has. [...]

Kirsten Price is a fresh face and a formidable voice on the now-unstoppable nu-soul train. The NY-based singer looks like Jennifer Connelly and sounds like Joss Stone or Xtina. In this song, she hits that spot, the one somewhere deep inside you that you forgot about, with a vocal melody that makes you realize that you've been deprived, and you now feel a thirst that you didn't before. Being that we are in a time when female blue-eyed soul belters from the UK seem to be everywhere, Brit-born Kirsten Price will surely have to deal with comparisons to the Joss-Duff-dele Winehouse bunch, but the bluesy edge to her voice (read: she's been through some things) and alternative slant to her sound grants her a distinction that should pique the interest of many looking for an artist

With Amy Winehouse proving to have a Mary Poppins-sized bag of issues plaguing her career, that alternative meets soul and tangos with jazz void may be filled next by Kirsten Price . Her voice and sound come as a surprise upon first listen, but once the excitement begins to wane you begin to hear the strength and smooth delivery of Price's voice. She's well equipped for garnering a large following, was featured on Dodge's Pop Dee-Lite's Singles Party , and has an album titled Guts & Garbage dropping July 1 st . Enjoy [...]

We got this album "Guts and Garbage" in the mail the other day and we've been listening to it and liking it a lot lately. Kirsten Price has a a voice that's incredibly easy to listen to, reminiscent of K.T. Tunstall or Grace Potter, bluesy and jazzy enough to be interesting, but with a definite pop radio edge. Check out two of the songs from her ten song debut below. "Guts and Garbage" is in stores July 1st. All Right- Kirsten Price Bring [...]
The Singles Party is mixing things up with some sonic pop, brooding folk and British soul. Fall Apart Again - Douglas Armour : I haven't had a chance to give Douglas Armour his due. His debut LP, The Light Of a Golden Day, The Arms of Night, came out May 20 on The Social Registry, but it's been key to brightening up the past two cold and dreary months. I can't get enough of the pulsating pleasure of Fall [...]
