The original winner of Pop Idol (the UK reality series and precursor to the X-Factor ) Will Young has had a long and illustrious pop career spanning nine years, quite impressive considering he's only 32 years old. Since the release of debut #1 album, 2002's From Now On , Young has amassed a total of three #1 albums, not to mention two top 5 albums. On the singles front, Young has been [...]

Here's our review of the new Will Young album, 'Echoes': It opens amazingly, sags slightly in the middle but pulls it all back magnificently at the end. The second Will Young album this lifetime we've wanted on our iPod. 8/10. But the album deserves a little more than that. Ahem. 'Jealousy' is a bit of a loss-leader as a lead single. It's the closest the album gets to a club 'banger' but we're glad he didn't push it any further. The day Will Young features a [...]
Vitamin D1 Ingredient #2: Lifelike Not quiet sure how I stumbled over the greatness of Lifelike but it was one of those love at first listen kind of things. The good thing was that he has countless amount of classic tracks to keep me busy. I've shaved this down to what I think are 10 must have tracks + 2 new tracks. Website (Lifelike) Lifelike Vitamins The Plastiscines [...]

To no one's surprise in particular, Kylie Minogue 's kick-off single from her upcoming studio release, Aphrodite , is a work of art. Less of a departure from Kylie's previous style and more of an embracing of her true disco diva "essence," the Stuart Price -produced, Kish Mauve -penned track (the same group responsible for the lead single of X , "2 Hearts") takes us back to the days of 2005's euphoric "I Believe In You," complete with lush electronic instrumentation and soaring vocals. It's perhaps one of Kylie's most [...]

Remember that stomping little Kylie tune, titled "Two Hearts" from back in 2007? If so, then you will probably also remember that that song was in fact a cover of an original track by crunchy London electro group Kish Mauve . After getting some mainstream attention, the duo of Jim Eliot and Mima Stilwell return this year with a brand-new album, titled "Black Heart." Kylie Minogue returned a favor and contributed the song "You Make Me Feel" to the album as a "pop swap." In anticipation of that, fans of crunchy electro pop will be in [...]

When I went through my iTunes library today, I realized that my collection of Fred Falke remixes had become pretty damn impressive. I was actually going to bash Falke in this post for some of his later remixes that were a bit sub-par, but when I grabbed his two latest remixes today, I completely changed my mind. Falke is a straight forward guy when it comes to remixing. You always have an idea about what you're about to hear when you grab his tracks, as his sound is really easy to distinguish. This could easily become boring over [...]

My guess is that you've heard of Fred Falke. The remix of PNAU's Embrace he did with miami horror blew up this summer. He's been around for a while. He's another great French electro producer. He and Alan Braxe worked together for a long time and put out some great stuff. The demand for Falke's music has grown quite a bit. His Synths are honestly perfect. It reminds me of summer sunsets on the beach in California. He is one of my fav producers. He got his start as a bass [...]

Remember Kish Mauve ? The U.K. based electro duo wrote 2 Hearts which was covered last year by Kylie Minogue. The band is back with their debut single, Lose Control . The remix package is great, including an amazing mix from Fred Falke which has circulated the blogs for the past month or so. I really enjoy this particular remix off the maxi, so enjoy it and let me know what you think! [...]
First go HERE, okey? you pressed the link and looked at the picture right? Ok, so it's a bathtub. And I don't know about you but I've been (give or take) a 100 times close to breaking my neck or just close to ripping up some important body part when I'm standing in or getting out [...]
shit la merde!!! this is what would come out of my mouth if I spoke french. this song is making me lose control. it took a few listens to really grow on me, but after a hearing kish 's sweet vocals swirl around my head a few times it's kind of hard not to love it. besides fred 's uplifting choice of chords and funky basswork, he doesn't wait to throw the knockout, as the song picks up fast in just the first few moments of this wicked remix. check it out, i'm sure [...]

I have been on vacation all week. So you may have noticed things really really sucking around here. hahahahah JK!!!!!!! Jles did such a kick ass job while I was away picking up the slack, he is the man right? Anyway, my inbox is loaded to the brim with new tracks and killer beats to blow your mind. However, I am still busy doing the post vacation settling so I am only going to give you a brief taste for now. To start, the long awaited Brian Eno and David Bryne album Everything That Happens Will [...]

do you remember at the beginning of the year when all that hype was bubbling over about the kylie minogue '2 hearts' track? it had a ton of remixes (most notably by the twelves ) and was all over the blogs . well, i'm not sure how well-known it was, but that song was actually a cover of a song written and produced by kish mauve (guy/girl duo, jim and mima). kylie returned the favor and co-wrote ' you make me feel ' in something that kish calls [...]

W.K.N.D. Post I am officially beginning PT 1 of summer holidays and as such I will be away through the W.K.N.D. and most of next week. However, the place that I am staying will have all the amenities that I (and You) have grown accustomed to. The only hiccup is that there will be no Sunday Post this W.K.N.D. To atone for such malfeasance I will drop a Holiday Post instead of a Sunday Post. I am bringin my ipod with me of course and some of the tracks that [...]
Another slam dunk from the young master. This track simply kills it. I have a new track to take me through the rest of the summer rocking....hard....like when Jles sees the Jonas Brothers......download link below. When I find a better download link I will post it. Stay crazy. Treasure Fingers - Cross the Dancefloor (lifelike remix) Show lifelike some love....he deserves it...that sexy bastard UPDATE : I thought this week was going to be slow when it came to dance music since it's August and [...]

When I got an email telling of Tinchy Strider - apparently "UK's Prince of Grime" - spitting over the Ting Tings' "That's Not My Name" it sounded like a desperate and pathetic mash-up. But then I realized two things: 1. It was a freestyle and not a mash-up. 2. Whatever it is, it's gotta be better than laboring through the tritest sections of Aeschylus's Oresteia . And as soon as I gave the cut a listen I knew I'd made the right choice. Tinchy Strider does a great job here. Serial. [...]

thebostonglobe First song is a promo track sent to me of Kish Mauve remixed by Fred Falke . Love the retro sound and for once, it sounds like it's out of the 70's and not the 80's. Yes people, let's fight against it. No more metallic neon green and tight gray jeans. Cause moving through the 80's only means one thing, re-entering the 90's and none of us want that. Second track is hot, just sent to me last night. The Phrenzy remix of [...]
