So…I saw Lykke Li last Monday at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles . To be honest, I thought I was going to miss out since I got off of work late and she was the opening act. The debut album from Kleerup, best known for his collaboration with Robyn on the gorgeous sorrow of "With Every Hearbeat" was released earlier this week and I am loving the not so subtle Giorgio Moroder influences all over the album. Previously released "Longing for Lullabies" was a great merging of Kleerup's soon-to-be-signature staccato synth bubble bursts with distinctly Donna Summer era Giorgio italo-disco strings. "3 AM" goes even one step further with a very 80's sounding vocal delivery from Marit Bergman and a melody dangerously close to being an interpretation of Moroder's theme to "The Never Ending Story". First and foremost, Santogold has just released her excellent self-titled debut album. Often compared to M.I.A., Santogold is like a more restrained, streamlined version of the singer. Kleerup (mastermind behind Robyn's hit With Every Heartbeat ) teams up with Swedish cutie Lykke Li in a recently leaked track Until We Bleed from a three-song album sampler. It's a really nice, soft track, helping to confirm Lykke Li as a legitimate artist. We can't find much information about him, but we assume this means he'll have an album dropping sometime soon. I've been aware of the existence of this wonderful track for a while, and thank goodness a proper quality version finally surfaced. If you wholeheartedly love his collab with Robyn "With Every Heartbeat", then this one will sure be a delectable treat! Whenever I see the phrase " Big In Sweden " or " European Smash " my brain automatically translates it as " Absolute Shite - Avoid like the plague! ".
