Hot new submission from Kodiak Fur. Members of Miami's FREELVE Collective , Kodiak Fur presents their first and self-titled EP, and it's a incredibly easy and enjoyable listen. They've got a lot of talent, presenting an amalgam of heartfelt vocals with just a touch new wave / synthpop melodies. Lots of neat artists affiliated with FREELVE , give 'em all a listen. Check out video and EP by Kodiak Fur , a Miami based four-piece. Singer/Songwriter Albert Vargas has teamed up with producer and guitarist ZuesLve, as well as 2/3 of Miami's Mr. Familiar - Steve Sanz and Christopher Thomas. Their music is at first sight not that what you might expect from a band from Miami. They definitely pay their tribute to the classy 80s but this is done very lightly and with passion, also Albert's work on the vocals is a total win. I highly recommend.

It hasn't been but a few weeks since we heard Kodiak Fur's debut single, Hi Luv . Now we have three new tracks to go along with the Miami based group's dreamy, introductory jam. Combing dark wave, synth pop, minimal wave, new wave, and goth pop, Kodiak Fur has pretty much lasso'd together everything good that the neon highlighted '80s had to offer. I actually got an e-mail linking me to Night Drive Miami and this track "Hi Luv". I've never heard any music from anyone in this project, but this track is superb. It's vocal-laden electronic music...the good kind. I've been in love with this particular brand of electro-dream-pop for a while, though it is often hard to find quality for me; at least it's hard for me to find the the qualities I prefer! Miami's got talent- not to sound like a cheeseball but it's really true. Every few months a new act emerges from under the limestone that reminds us of the creativity hatching round these parts. Kodiak Fur was introduced via Twitter by band mate MRFAMILIAR and after seeing the video and reading up on them it all made sense. Once again, another awesome band with bear in the name (technically). Kodiak Fur's new single, Hi Luv, is definitely a dancing with yourself, lights turned low type of style. The dark synths and dreamy, distant vocals just scream that these guys are fans of '80s goth pop. What's surprising, though, is that half of the 4 piece that makes up Kodiak Fur, are members of the Miami production team, Mr. Familiar .
