Never thought I'd hear these two on the same track. To be honest, I still haven't because my computer is being an asshole. Let me know how it is. If it's any good, I'll try to get an mp3 up soon. Spacious Thoughts (feat. Tom Waits and Kool Keith) - NASA PigeonsandPlanes
Oh man, I <3 Kool Keith. Consistently, he's one of the most oddball yet entertaining dudes around. I watched this one twice, the tears welling up stronger & stronger each time. "... Sometimes I read the newspaper daily, little eggnog in my Bailey's ." Ghost & Weezy combined ain't got shit on Keith when it comes to stringing together non sequiturs. Add a splash of vocoder for the "I'm laughin @ you now" effect. I don't even want to speculate on what happened behind the scenes of that [...]

Er, maybe not literally, but "R.I.P Dr. Octagon", the last single released by the Bronx-born rapper with almost as many aliases as fingers (this time under the Dr. Dooom moniker), gets remixed three different ways, but you the buyer gets six tracks. Each remix comes with its very own instrumental, so, that's pretty awesome. Tracklist: 01 R.I.P. Dr. Octagon (Memory Man remix) 02 R.I.P. Dr. Octagon (TomC3 remix) 03 R.I.P. Dr. Octagon (Junkaz Lou remix) 04 R.I.P. Dr. Octagon (Memory Man instrumental) 05 R.I.P. Dr. Octagon (TomC3 [...]
I'm not sure if I've been under a rock on this one, but I've never heard of N.A.S.A. (the DJ duo, not the space agency). Luckily for them, they were obviously on the radars of more important people - their debut album, The Spirit of Apollo , features a veritable who's who of indie-rock, rap and DJ legends, including David Byrne , Tom Waits , M.I.A. , Kanye West , the Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Scarface , the Wu-Tang Clan , Chuck D and [...]

Everything all of the time is awesome when you don't have anything, but when you got something, it needs some room to grow. Quality control enabled (no math). You know Dr.Dooom... and now you know Dr.Dooom 2... don't look now, I'm right behind you. Fingerbanger 1: Dr.Dooom - I Followed You (download) -- I'm sick of the professional politician. I'm sick of the political supporters. I'm sick of the political media. I'm sick of everyone trying to push their agenda at every opportunity. I'm sick of those that buy [...]

Disinformation. A rouge country music label. Secret docs. Read. When I saw the post earlier this week on Kool Keith's new album under his Dr. Dooom alter ego, I was supper excited. I am a Kool Keith fan threw and threw—and being a Kool Keith fan you know that you share a rare enthusiasm with a small but demented fan base of comic book fans, pornfreaks, and a loosely knit alliance of glue sniffers. Exciting, but we need a little background. So first, Dr. Octagon In collaboration with Dan [...]
More underyourskin goodness.
A few weeks ago, Janelle Monae came to town for a gig at the Viper Room. First off, the Viper Room is a complete fucking dump, but for her entire set, Janelle Monae made me forget that. The room was packed, I was uncomfortable and the staff lacked manners, but as Moane tore through her recently released EP Metropolis: The Chase Suite (Special Edition) , I saw an amazing musician that more people need to know about. If you could mix up Kelis, Kool Keith and Outkast's "Hey Ya!," this would be the spawn. [...]
In an interesting turn of hip-hop alter ego's battling themselves, M.C. Doom is set to kill off Dr. Octagon on his next album The Truth And The Service. NWS states that his record company released some demos and called it Octagon 2, pissing off Kool Keith and causing him to kill off a part of himself. Watch the teaser below to see the Friday the 13th style slayings.
Music video for the single "RIP Dr Octagon" off Kool Keith's new album "Dr Dooom 2". The song was produced by Kutmasta Kurt. The video was directed, shot and edited by Odin Wadleigh. Co-produced by Timothy Thompson. Title design by Timothy Thompson.

This song is one of my favorite Ultra Magnetic M.C.'s joints. Kool Keith kills it! It's just a hype record. Enjoy! Ultra Magnetic M.C.'s - Funky (12" Version) | Zshare | | YSI | 320 kbps
This is a nice one to help kick the work week off. After the blessed success of Dr. Octagon , somebody at Sony realized that Kool Keith was a genius and needed to be on the label's roster. Naturally, when Keith showed up and started being himself, Sony was completely shocked. I don't know what more they could have asked for - Keith even turned in a profanity-free album! But the label didn't know what to do with him once they had him, and it was a super flame-out. Keith started using the fan e-mail [...]
In case you've never heard of this movie, check out the trailer. Young People Fucking is a scathingly honest and hilarious portrayal of four couples, one threesome and a crazy night of sex. Last year at the Toronto Film Festival, it was one of the more talked about movies. I still haven't seen it yet, but ending up watching the last 20 minutes in search of a song. My friend Erin just saw the flick and loved the song that ended the movie. After a little research (can careful listening to the lyrics), I was able [...]

- - - - It's said that yawns are contagious, like laughs, or syphilis. When there's a small group of people in a room and one person is inspired to yawn, be it by tire or light-headedness, it's almost a sure thing that another person in the vicinity will yawn, and possibly another, until there is [...]

No less of a heavy than Lewis A. Reed tells us that 37 is a piss-poor excuse of a number. That's how I interpret his line in "Femme Fatale": "You're written in her book/You're number 37 have a look." Guy could have picked any other number to signify utter ignominy, but he chose 37. And indeed, it does have the uncanny ring of the end of the line. With Lou's damning assessment in mind, I guess I should feel relief for the existence of a viable 37 song, by a major figure, from a major record. It's [...]
