Tweet vaso link Rochester's KOPPS have been a budding band throughout 2011, with Kyle O'Hara producing infectious synth-pop melodies that are carried on the shoulders of singer Patricia Patrone's vocals - and a powerful set of vocals they are. The group turned a new page with the high-quality production on their single "L.A. Lights" with the help of Joywave's Dan Armbruster. Contributing to the Rochester love-fest, local DJ David Lee Rad has given it the remix treatment, creating a downtempo, stutter-step version [...]

Back in June we posted the Richard Powda remix of City and Colour's single Fragile Bird . Now he's back again, this time under the pseudonym SmarterChild , with a dark and electric remix of Kopps' Lights . The dark synth sounds used in the intro of the track lead to a killer build that drops at the 1:12 mark, leaving you with a feeling of relief and excitement. The use of choppy and smooth vocals also gives off a sense of conflict throughout the song, but in a good way [...]
Tweetvaso link It's interesting to be able to hear a band mature on a song by song basis. Generally a band releases an EP or an album, and the singles are culled from that. But with KOPPS, it's been a series of songs, released through their website as they've been completed, where we can chart...

i need to move and now i need more ♫ Kopps - Machine I'm betting a good lot of you won't get the reference in that album art but for you fellow old people don't fret, Kopps sound nothing like Jonathan Davis and Co although it is pretty damn peachy. Some dramatic synth action mixed with undulating beats and some nice female vocals make "Machine" a great jam for playing on your next hostile takeover of the abandoned docks! Action scene montage! But it's really no surprise this track is solid [...]
Since we posted on KOPPS last week, the Rochester-based duo has finished up a new song; produced by Dan Armbruster of Joywave fame, "Machine" is a world-beater - all robotic synths and beats held in place by Patricia Petrone's powerful vocals. It's a showcase for what the pair does best - churning out driving...
Yesterday, Andy noted in his introduction about Rochester's Old Tapes that our city's music has been gravitating towards synthesizers, which is never a bad trend in my book. Along with Old Tapes and Joywave, another group was also mentioned that has been popping up around our area over the past few months and they are...
