Kowalski have been going for absolutely ages, but each year passes and there's no debut album. It looks like 2012 will be different though. 'While We Drive', the band said on Facebook, features on said debut. Finally! They're friends with Two Door Cinema Club but they're not looking to ride [Read more]
It's that time of year again. No, not the holiday spirit, but the blogosphere spirit where everyone turns in their top albums of the year list. We've never been one to make lists. Hell, we're not really too deep into the whole "album" spirit. With that in mind, we've created a list of some of our top singles of this year. There are obviously plenty others that we love, but most of them are here because we posted about them on the site. Of course we love the Adeles, Florence and The Machines, and Radioheads of the 2011 music year. [...]

There is no use ignoring the music coming out of Northern Ireland right now. First there was Two Door Cinema Club , making a big noise last year and now headlining the upcoming NME Awards tour next February. So what's going on now? Here comes the rampaging approach of two potentially heavy hitters: Cashier No. 9 , earmarked by Simon Raymonde's Bella Union and Two Door's 'little brothers' Kowalski. (I put 'little brothers' in quotes because there is a brother connection between the two bands [...]

Aw, I love this song. It's music that lifts my heart. Kowalski have been around for years, and like fine wine, they get better with age. If you like watching bands play instruments in the forest (HOW LONG IS THEIR EXTENSION CORD?!?!) then you will love Babysweet's video for 'Outdoors', [Read more]
Tweetvaso link Kowalski, the name, is the second most common last name in Poland. Kowalski, the band, might not have reached those storied heights just yet, but their shiny brand of pop might not make that premise an impossible one to reach. I hear traces of Tahiti 80 in the Northern Ireland's new track, the...

I went to the Kowalski single launch last night in The Menagerie , Belfast. Here are a few of random things I learned about them. 1. They are no longer 'mood hoovers', but instead they are intent on getting the party started. 2. If the female of the species had their way, Paddy would play the drums on a riser. Naked. 3. They have lovely posters. And are willing to sign them. 4. According to one crowd member, they sound like Grandaddy, and Death Cab For [...]
Kowalski has a promo video for their new single, 'Outdoors'. It was directed by Babysweet, the same folks that filmed the Two Door Cinema Club documentary "You Think You Know, You Don't Know: A film about Two Door Cinema Club" from last year. This video is sunny and perfect for a lazy August day. Watch it below. Their best buds Two Door did a remix of this song, which you can grab from this earlier MP3 of the Day post. Click here [...]

Don't forget TBE was one of the first to bring remixes in the roundup format. Don't forget to show us some love and as always GET NURDY as all hell. For more jams or by any of these artists [...]
Bangor bands Kowalski and Two Door Cinema Club are like this. And we're pretty pleased to offer up a Two Door remix of Kowalski's forthcoming single, 'Outdoors'. The single with this remix will be released on 22 August on Everybody's Stalking.

We brought you the original just a few weeks ago when the Two Door Cinema Club had supported them on their Facebook page. Kowalski had actually been TDCC's supporting act during their UK tour and now TDCC is returning the favor by jumping on the band's hit and putting their own spin on it. The remix doesn't differ too much from the original but you can definitely sense a TDCC vibe with it. It's always a dance party with this band. You can get the single, along with the remix, on August 22nd (via Everybody's Stalking). [...]

For the vast majority of the year, hearing a track like 'Outdoors' by Kowalski would be a surefire way to induce vomit, especially vocal-wise, but thankfully we've just hit a heatwave, so it all makes sense. Window of opportunity firmly open. Two Door Cinema Club haven't really added much to the mix to be fair, but that's ok. They have a lot on.
A weekly feature in which our writers share their favourite tracks of the week. Pantone247 - 'Hello' (chosen by Hilary White) This track popped up on the recent second compilation from Popical Island and was the big head-turner of the mix if you ask us. Haven't the foggiest who these guys are but this chugging and immaculate minute-and-a-half of college rock thrusting suggests a precocious talent in our midsts, honeybunnies. 02-Pantone247 - Hello by popical_island Duran Duran [...]

Everybody's Stalking posted this gem up a few days ago but I am just now receiving it due to Two Door Cinema Club having posted it on their Facebook page. Kowalski is a band from Northern Ireland with an indie pop sound similar to that of The Postal Service and Phoenix - per ES. The 'Outdoors' single is being released on Everybody's Stalking on August 22nd. Interesting note: Apparently, Paddy Baird, the drummer from Kowalski, is a brother of Kevin Baird from Two Door Cinema Club. Sweet.
Kowalski are a band from up North and have been restrained in what they have recorded and released in their career. They played support to a band from Britain who were playing in Cork in January 2007ish, if my memory serves me correctly. I was very sick at the time, [Read more]

--Hey hipsters this isn't 2008 there's nothing "Ironic" about your mustache anymore. This includes pulling your hair over your lip/drawing a mustache on your finger it's been done... the novelties worn off-- . . . After finishing up with the night cruise posts i'm in the mood for some songs where the instrumentation carries the songs a little more than the lyrics. I'm sure as i piece this one together i'll stray a little from that format but that's basically [...]

The next seven days will see two more of our free State vs... live gigs, one in the West and one in the East. This Saturday night will see VisionAir, The Danger Is and Great Lakes Mystery travel to the Roisin Dubh in Galway, where they will be joined by Daithí for a fine quadruple bill. Doors are at 8pm. Next week sees us return to The Mercantile in Dame St, for a gig with the marvelous Sweet Oblivion blog. Headlining are the dynamic duo Kid Karate , with support from Kowalski and [...]

For some reason, and one I can't quite work out, google is sending this blog lots of travellers because of a post we did for this Northern band last year. Not that we're complaining but it'd be nice to get to the bottom of the trending. Regardless the more people to get to hear about Kowalski the better for they are undoubtedly one of this islands brightest prospects. They have the songs too, as shiny as anything Two Door Cinema Club could come up with but with the added advantage of sustainability. Official releases have been a bit slow in [...]

The next three Amhran Gach La posts will be talking about this Saturday night. It looks like there won't be much political drama so I'll be at this gig in The Grand Social to find out if all the buzz about We Cut Corners is justified!
