Alas, we're still awaiting enlightenment as to what collaborations between Josh Homme's ineffably badass desert-rock bruisers Queens of the Stone Age and the likes of Elton John and Jake Shears might sound like, although by 'eck did Brussels get it lucky this week as the distortion junkies swung by radio station StuBru to air a couple newbies from forthcoming sixth studio full-length ...Like Clockwork , along with a customary acoustic take on No One Knows. Whoa! This is a surprise. After spending the last two years filling in for Jeff Hanneman due to Jeff's nasty spider bite, Exodus guitarist Gary Holt looks to have bro'd down enough with Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo that the two have decided to start jamming on a new project. Not only are Holt and Lombardo involved, ... The post Members of SLAYER, EXODUS, KYUSS (and possibly METALLICA) Form New All-Star Group appeared first on Metal Injection .

Following the news that Kyuss Lives! member Nick Oliveri will feature on the next Queens Of The Stone Age LP comes a rather interesting development for the band that consists of former Kyuss members. The original Kyuss broke up many years ago but several members of the band formed a band named Kyuss Lives! that performed the band's classic tracks on the live circuit. Josh Homme and Scott Reede (former members of Kyuss) didn't like that at all so they filed a lawsuit against Kyuss Lives! citing "trademark infringement and [...]

When it was announced the Dave Grohl had rejoined Queens Of The Stone Age, some commenters theorized/joked that maybe Nick Oliveri would be next to rejoin the band. Considering the apparent acrimony after Josh Homme booted Oliveri in 2004 (and especially after Oliveri was charged with numerous criminal counts in 2011), that seemed ... unlikely. At best. Well, never say never. According to a post on the Facebook wall of Oliveri's project Mondo Generator, the ex-QOTSA bassist has recorded vocals on the forthcoming QOTSA album. He's also rejoined Kyuss! Per MG's Facebook [...]

Earlier this year, Josh Homme and Scott Reeder filed a lawsuit against their former bandmates in Kyuss, citing “tradmark infringement and consumer fraud" for their use of the name Kyuss Lives! for ongoing reunion activities. As Rolling Stone reports, Judge S. James Otero of the United States District Court Central District ruled on the lawsuit today, and his verdict allows Kyuss Lives! to be used only in concert. "The Court will issue a preliminary injunction prohibiting Defendants from using the Kyuss Mark in any capacity unless [...]
According to a TMZ report , former Queens of the Stone Age and Dwarves bassist Nick Oliveri has managed to avoid jail time in his July 2011 arrest. Police had received a domestic violence call which also noted that Oliveri's girlfriend was being held inside. A SWAT team surrounded the house and the incident became a three hour standoff with police which ended with Oliveri being taken into custody a couple hours later. When his home was searched, police found a loaded rifle, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Somehow [...]

But Oliveri pled "not guilty," caliming the whole [...]
