Pete Yorn ~ "Velcro Shoes"(mp3 download ) There's a stripped down and raw feel to the new Pete Yorn album, and I am really digging it. The combination of Pete Yorn and the producing of Black Francis worked well. Pete Yorn 's self titled album is due out September 28th, and he will be playing The Roxy on September 27th! Bonus: [...]

So I haven't published a Mailbag for about a zillion years, and for that I apologize. I would claim I've been busy, but that would be lying. I owe you a good one, so here we go. Sorry If some of these track are a touch old, I've been building up for a while... Hi there, Today, I'm going to do something a little different from the usual posts or album reviews. It's my first ever Party/event review... And since I went to see two big names recently, this'll be a double post: First up, my Moby encounter at Tomorrowland, and then some Fatboy Slim. Tomorrowland is a growing Dance festival organised by the Belgian group of ID & T. This year was only the fifth edition and therefore it is a very young festival, but that certainly doesn't show. Each year, the line-up is getting bigger [...]

If you've been in this scene for any time at all you MUST know that Electronic Dance Music and Hip Hop have always been joined at the hip. A sort of brother & sister Love/Hate type of relationship. Although it often seems sort of one sided. As in, we LOVE hip hop and they HATE dance music. Nevertheless, the relationships continue. Almost everyone I know loves all sorts of Hip Hop songs. Almost everyone I've ever met (be it street thug to Suit & Tie Corporate Type) loves a little Hip Hop. Everyone's seen the geekiest of geeks talkin' bout [...]

The king is dead. Long live the king. Popular, genius, unparalleled, wunderkind, lost soul, stunted youth, eccentric, amazing, second-to-none, unlucky. All are descriptors of the can't-believe-it-really-happen ed-what-the-hell recently deceased Michael Jackson . We won't be doing any tribute or remembrance post to him because we don't think we'll ever say anything that can be different than what millions of other people have already said or are feeling, but Mr Vega has done his part in the process with this, a track that combines the tongue of Mr Oizo's "Bruce Willis Is Dead" and "James Brown Is Dead" from [...]
Kry-lon won me round with their awesome artwork and also this sheer fun electro banger remix of "James Brown Is Dead." Play it loud! Lately I've been listening A LOT to the new Prodigy album and I remembered my early rave days. You see, before getting into rock music I was a hardcore raver, running from party to party and dancing my tits off. So I got this idea of making a podcast featuring anthems from the good old days. From acid house, breakbeat and hardcore to jungle, techno and trance, these tunes are guaranteed to bring back memories to all you old timers out there like they did to me :-P Who can forget the uplifting rave pianos, the glowsticks, [...]

In 1991, I waited by my tape deck all day to try and record this tune off the radio. It was the first techno song to make it to the Billboard pop charts. L.A. Style was a duo formed by Wessel van Diepen, who later formed Vengaboys (I know). L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead (Rock Radio Mix) L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead (Elijah's Re-Animator Remix)

Some classic techno for your ears. Still anticipating the release of Bruce Willis is Dead by Mr. Oizo. L.A. Style - James Brown is Dead "Einstein's theory of relativity. Grab hold of a hot pan, second can seem like an hour. Put your hands on a hot woman, an hour can seem like a second. It's all relative."

Ive got mixed feelings on this post as after over a year of Versus 90's posts this is going to be the last one ever! The good news is that we will be continuing it at our new blog so stay tuned as we got something special under wraps. We've put together an extra big post for all our Versus fans, thanks for the support and stay tuned! Dj Mike B of Banana Split fame has a great blog that I wanted to let you know about. He has [...]
