Hey everybody, First off, I want to offer the deepest of thank yous to everyone who dropped messages of support since my last message when I announced that the free posting of mp3s was going to cease. It was comforting to see my cynicism about why people visit music blogs proven wrong. Feels good to know that the words on this site mean as much as the music behind it. So a sincere thank you to everyone for the continued support. Among the support, I've seen a number of people suggest that streaming music might provide [...]
So before you start reading this, just keep in mind that behind every awards show is a group of old white people. And along with that, if a musician takes any of these awards that seriously, then they're probably a douche bag to begin with (i.e. Kanye West). Thankfully, I felt like this year the Grammys did a pretty decent job at honoring the people who put a lot of time and work into their craft and care more about their fans and careers than they do money or awards. Beyonce swept [...]
There was a lot of celebrating at the 2010 Grammy Awards this past Sunday but the execs of the awards show definitely had a lot to celebrate the morning after the event. Putting on the best show that everyone's seen in years has definitely paid off as the show was significantly up in the ratings, bringing in 25.8 million viewers and killing the competition on every other network. The telecast ended up being the highest-rated Grammys telecast in the last six years! I'd say that those execs better say thanks to Lady Gaga and Pink for giving such amazing performances. [...]

Got a couple of remixes that have dropped into the inbox today so I'll quickly put them up because I absolutely love both of them. First up... This Passion Pit remix has got slight tints of UK garage tint to it - remix is absolutely bang on the money. Lady GaGa - Telephone (Passion Pit Remix) - download Download audio file (Lady GaGa - Telephone (Passion Pit Remix).mp3) Secondly... Remix aficionado Alan Wilkis does Yeasayer's first single off [...]

Jónsi 's new album is going full steam ahead! Go , his first solo endeavor, will be released on April 5 across the world. Above is the album's cover art which, according to the singer's website e-mail, was conceptualized by his sisters Inga and Lilja. Aww. At the same time, the Sigur Rós singer is preparing his first tour of North America. Judging by the e-mail, he's going Gaga in terms of set design: "We wanted you to know we are going for broke on this and it ain't in [...]
All the news last night & this morning seems to revolve around The Grammys - not that it's surprising, of course. But it had slipped my mind it was even on. I'm more of an Oscars/Golden Globes man myself, despite my obvious obsession with music. I'm not one to piss and moan about award ceremonies too much. I've long ago come to accept that they're all flawed concepts, so I just try to evaluate them on a pure entertainment level. I'm less likely to cry about who wasn't nominated than I am to whine [...]
So unfortunately due to obligations rooted in my real life, I wasn't able to watch last night's Grammy awards and snark them in real time as I have in years past. But thanks to some lovely twitter followers, I was able to keep track of the goings-on in almost real time. If you follow me on the aforementioned twitter account, then you know that I tried to predict the winners of some of the major categories, based on who was deserving of the awards and on the trends from recent Grammy award ceremonies. Well, it appears that Grammy [...]

Lady Gaga- Retro Physical

Best seat in the house? At least that dude (not Lady Gaga) didn't have to watch the Grammys.

According to "E! News", it could happen. Stranger things have happened. Just look at Taylor Swift's award winning career. See? Reportedly, Lindsay Lohan has got what it takes to hook up with Lady Gaga musically. Or at least that's what Rodney Jerkins wants us all to believe. He feels that Lindsay has that "it" factor and that she should be on the horn with Gaga's people trying to make this duet [...]

Before I rip last night's show to shreds, let's give the Grammys some props. The awards are completely irrelevant (see #1 below), acceptance speeches are as interesting as a 2AM infomercial, but the show producers have figured out over the last few years that the appeal of the show as a TV program are the performances. The Oscars will always have the edge in terms of prestige and the relevance of the awards, but you tune in to the Grammys to hopefully see a performance that people will be talking about at the office the next morning. [...]
Grammy winner and Armani muse Lady Gaga is gaining more and more little monsters every day, and from the most unlikely of sources. Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij recently divulged to SIRIUS radio host Jenny Eliscu that the abstract pop artist was his guilty pleasure. When Eliscu claimed to have "philisophical objections to Lady Gaga," the indie rocker defended her honor because she's helping teens know "they shouldn't feel like a freak. That's something I personally can relate to. I think what she is doing is meaningful." The Vampire boys should thoroughly enjoy the latest [...]

When Lady GaGa first came onto the 52nd Grammy Awards red carpet we loved her vision. She looked like she was the shiniest star during the entrance. However, we thought the wig was a little off, like a drag queen that just had a fight. It turns out that GaGa was sporting a full body suit with a hoodie that had hair on it. Yes, the GaGa was basically all dressed up from head to two in another image that looked, to the naked eye, real. She is just fabulous for taking such a risk. Filed under: Beats [...]

Awards season officially kicked off Sunday night with the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ! In all honesty I feel most awards ceremonies are so out of touch with what I consider quality music, but nonetheless I always tune in for the performances, fashion, surprises and disappointments. Sunday night's' show kicked off on a high note with Lady Gaga performing a high-concept run through of Pokerface and duetting with no other than Sir Elton John for lovely renditions of Your Song and Speechless . High performance notes [...]

Filed under: News , Grammy Awards , New Releases In 1985, a one-time dream team of musicians calling themselves USA for Africa recorded the song "We Are the World" as a fundraiser for African famine relief. Written by a powerhouse pairing of Michael Jackson with Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones , the original track featured an astounding 43 superstars in addition to the songwriters. Some of the soloists included Bruce Springsteen , Bob Dylan , Paul Simon , Billy Joel [...]

The release of the 2009 Grammy nominations marked probably the last time the words "Grammys" and "relevant" were ever used in the same sentence. Remember when Radiohead's In Rainbows was up for Album of the Year? Or how Lil Wayne received eight nominations for Tha Carter III ? Yeah, that's not happening again. This year, the Grammys reverted back to their normal selves, favoring baby boomers for the rock categories, veteran heavyweights for the rap ones, and Beyoncé and Taylor Swift for pretty much everything else. Beyoncé led the night with six trophies, while T-Swizzy took home [...]

Sir Elton John reportedly had a tantrum backstage at the Grammy Awards while rehearsing for his performance with Lady Gaga. The 62-year-old star recently performed with Gaga, 23, when they sung his track Your Song and then her hit, Speechless. However, while rehearsing for their performance at the Grammys, Elton reportedly shouted at the people working the autocue because of their spelling and then asked that everyone leave so the pair could get ready. A source told UK newspaper the Daily Mirror: "Lady Gaga and Elton were seated at a double-sided piano that has [...]
