Angus and Julia Stone - Solo albums. Together. Separately. // One of our favourite fam duos have been, somewhat simultaneously, embarking upon solo ventures into new territories.. The Lady Stone just released her hauntingly delightful album, " The Memory Machine ". Pick it up on iTunes here . Also, if you haven't checked out Angus' solo work, " Smoking Gun " - under artist alias Lady Of The Sunshine - get it here . Here's a free sample [...]

I don't know what it is about Australia that draws me to it. And I don't know why the great Down Under calls my name, so. It could be the accent (which I'm constantly attempting to perfect), the Sydney Opera House, the kangaroos, or the fuzzy koala bears. Or perhaps it's because the first time I actually paid any attention to the Olympics, they were held in Sydney, and right then I decided that it was #1 on my list of must-visit destinations. I want to go to there. Regardless of the reason behind my fascination [...]

I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand. Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man? New sensations barely interest me for another day. I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, take the shock away. It's getting faster, moving faster now, it's getting out of hand. On the tenth [...]

imagine a world without terror and pain where it's always sunny no thunder no rain where dreams are reality and they always come true where everyone's happy and they all smile at you where the colours are bright and the people are nice where it's always easy no roll of the dice no greed or possession money doesn't exist no lust or temptation to try and resist a world full of love and beauty and peace where the hating would stop and the wars would cease where the animals play and the people don't lie where the flowers don't wilt [...]
With this weekend's Northeastern winter storm dubbed "fierce" and "blizzard-like" by media all over the country, I figured now would be a good time for a little winter-themed mix. Rather than focusing on the positive side to winter (does. not. compute.) these songs reflect more the barron winter landscape, locked-inside isolation, and "contemplative" side to the season. 'Tis the season to sit around and wax introspectively upon the year and wait for springtime to come? That's fine by me, and if you'll spend any of the remaining minutes of the year listening to music (of course you will), then [...]

cause i'm in love with how you feel in my heart ♫ Lady Of The Sunshine - Daisy Chain Lady of The Sunshine is a dude from Australia and "Daisy Chain" is the second-least listened to song on his MySpace. I heard it on IGIF's recommendation and it instantly struck a chord with me. I've yet to delve too deep into the dudes oeuvre because I am enjoying the purity of "Daisy Chain." It's the kind of song that takes whatever your are feeling and just chills it out [...]
Lady of the Sunshine - Silver Revolver I recently anytime I discovery a group from 'Down Under' (Australia) I have not been disappointed. This really starting to become a favorite track and I've only listened to it today.

Well, I've enjoyed the few weeks of autumn Mother Nature and/or global warming have allowed. After an incredibly long and excruciatingly hot summer, the leaves had barely enough time to change colors before falling to the ground in heaps. Now it's time for sweaters and brisk winter winds, and there's nothing like growing a beard to keep your face warm. If facial hair isn't your thing or you're a female, settling for summery Australian folk music by Lady of the Sunshine will act as a fine follicle substitute. It seems like every [...]

"It's all in my head, it's all in my head. All I've ever been to myself is my own enemy" Did you know that sometimes in summer I think dreamily of the time when I can curl up on the couch with the heater on, a cup of tea, a mint slice and countless text books? Needless to say I don't know who that crazy crazy person is right now. Some people [...]

The tunes from Australian Angus Stone's Lady of the Sunshine offer up some of the normal themes of a solo album: revenge, suicide, and love. The package these themes are delivered in sets it apart from anything I've heard lately though. Gentle, melancholic songs mesh with hard, bluesy stoner rock. It's hard to put a label on Smoking Gun as an album either way though. It would be a disservice to categorize it at all, except that upon a listening you know it is good. Really good. If I [...]

World's Greatest Music writes... I have this CD with no information on it. It's somewhere between a stripped down Kings Of Leon and Fleet Foxes, and it's really good, especially the first five tracks. I googled the title and artist (Smoking Gun by Lady Of The Sunshine) and it turned up nothing, which added to the intrigue. It turns out it's a solo album by Angus Stone of Angus & Julia fame and it's due out in April. Here's one of those opening five tracks. There are even better ones awaiting you on the album. [...]

Lady Of The Sunshine - 'White Rose Parade' ( mp3 ) Angus Stone (Julia's brother) has started his own side project to fill time in between Angus and Julia Stone albums named Lady of The Sunshine . I'm a big fan of the duo so I was keen to listen to this track for any hint of any new material from the sibling group, but it would be misleading to take this as an indication of their future compositions. White Rose Parade features the very familiar Angus voice, over plugged in blues-ish guitar [...]
