"We're not just a guitar band, and we're not just an electronic band either" erklärt Sängerin Laura Donnelly. Bandkollege und Produzent Andrea Gobbi präzisiert: "There's no-one else really doing what we do. On one hand that's a huge advantage, but on the other [...]
Photo by Vincent Fournier It's time for another rare installment of "Russ finds an electronic track he absolutely loves," and I can say that it's more along the lines of enamoured and obsessed than it is love. The subject of this week's endearment is a remix of a Laki Mera song called Crater. The Scottish electronica quartet's track was awesomely improved by fellow Glasgowians and one of my

Mogwai have been pretty busy with their remixes recently. A couple of weeks ago we posted their remix of ' Song Of Los ' by Apparat and now we have their take on 'Crater' by Laki Mera. Both are great, but come on...it's Mogwai...what did you expect?

Reminiscent of The XX and Portishead, Glaswegian band Laki Mera brought their eclectic 'folktronica' sound to the Barfly last Wednesday. The night was an odd discord of bands but Laki Mera's individual sound brought a well-needed change to the environment. With only a half-hour set to reach listeners who were immerse... Read more..

Laki Mera I have to admit that Laki Mera had until recently completely passed me by, however, have to hearing them record a number of session they've somewhat turned my head with their electronic folk-pop.

Glasgow based Laki Mera stand up in their own right as an inspring act - their dark-hearted take on trip-hop influences fronted by the angelic pipes of Laura Donnelly deserve far greater acclaim during a time where the likes of The XX are being scattered internationally as groundbreaking melancholy merchants. 'How Dare You' was already a stand out track from their recent Clutter EP on Just Music, with its Reznor-esque sinister backdrop of synthesisers and Twin Peaks lounge atmospherics. But it's this Part Time Heroes rework that has gone on to emphasise just how [...]
