Lali Puna - Alienation (Alias Remix) Both of these artists have been featured here on MFR before, and we're fortunate enough that as chance would have it, their paths have crossed previously, which we are reminded of on Alias' upcoming collected remixes album. It's not so much of a coincidence, in that Lali Puna shares bandmembers (Markus Acher) with personal favorites the Notwist and the Notwist + Themselves hybrid group 13 & God, the latter also being featured on Anticon, where Alias currently resides. And Kevin Bacon signed them all to the label, so there you go. The remix...

I felt the need to expand the above chart to twelve, simply because I wanted to feature the two bottom artists tied for 8th. I'm tricky that way. A couple thoughts on the week: I finally took the initiative and heard The Greatest and The Crane Wife , as well as another go-around of Carnavas . You've inevitably heard enough about that trio here or elsewhere, so I'll leave it at that. The high charting of the Dears and Annuals is definitely a product of that show, and [...]
People In Planes - If You Talk Too Much (My Head Will Explode) + Lali Puna - People I Know

Yesterday I posted a Bjork+Bogdan track that simply has to be pulled from the archives and played at maximum volume as days get colder, darker and shorter . iTunes woke me up this morning to another such song, and so I've figured, hell-since we're writing actual ARTICLES (I know, I know) about newer stuff, why not, here on the ResBlog , make a theme out of "beloved fall/winter-time cold weather songs". (after all, Trixie DID get this whole thing started with Plaid/ Spokes ....one of my fall albums, as well.) [...]

The Return of Rue Chaptal. Thanks again to Andrea -- one of her old mixes was a lifesaver for us Monday night -- we thought we'd share it with y'alls. Tres sophistiqué! (I mean, yes, that's totally a Ladytron cover of that naughty Tweet song!) Petula Clark -- Un Jeune Homme Bien The Creatures -- Weathercade The Dears -- Heartless Romantic Black Box Recorder -- The Art of Driving Throwing Muses --

With the last two bands i posted about, Venus Hum and The Evening Episode , hearing all that music was making me feel very nostalgic. I explained how much i listened to this at the time when during the mid to late 90's it was extremely popular. What else was there to listen to? I don't even remember. I always loved female vocalists, especially the ones that possessed an almost angelic quality to their voices (i.e. The Sundays, Mazzy Star, Innocence Mission, etc.). This coupled with the different facets of the electronic [...]
