As mentioned , Lambchop are releasing their new album, Mr. M , on February 21 via Merge, and touring in support of it. When we first announced that they'll play NYC on April 19 at Le Poisson Rouge , it was one of a few North American dates scheduled at the moment. They've since revealed the entire tour and it also includes a Brooklyn show happening one day later at The Bell House on 4/20 . Tickets for the LPR show and the Bell House show are [...]

With all the accolades and critical acclaim that came with the release of his 2010 record Harlem River Blues , such as taking home the Americana Music Award for Song Of The Year for the album's title track, Justin Townes Earle continued to battle the personal demons that come along with his substance abuse issues. Townes Earle's issues led to a rather unfortunate and ugly incident after a gig and he postponed tour dates to re-enter rehab. Now that the singer-songwriter is hopefully putting his struggles behind him, JTE will release his latest studio album - [...]

"It's been nearly two decades since Lambchop released its first album, at the time pronouncing itself "Nashville's most fucked-up country band." Provocative it may have been, but the description made sense: at the heart of all that ruckus was a band at once defying and embracing the musical legacy of its hometown. Since then, Lambchop has evolved into an accomplished ensemble, adding palpable depth and substance to singer-songwriter-guitarist Kurt Wagner's songs—and the band sounds as commanding as ever on its 11th album, Mr. M , a collection of meditations on love and loss and the [...]

In this Y U NO REVIEW, Anthony talks a bit about the latest album releases from Common, Crosses, Enter Shikari, Kayo Dot, and Asher Roth. Here are some short opinions on other albums that were missed this past month as well: 1. Machinedrum- SXLND (LuckyMe) I think people tend to assume that every album that gets incorporated into this segment must not be that enjoyable to me or something. That's not completely the truth since there are even decent releases that I can't necessarily get to. On [...]
Lambchop released a track last week off their upcoming album Mr. M, out February 20th. "Gone Tomorrow" is a pleasant seven minute epic of two parts, the latter half more subdued and retrospective and the former providing the exhilarating alt-inspired trademark of the Nashville-based Lambchop
Here it is, the first mix of The Last Year. So far we've had a flood of good music these first few weeks of 2012, which in fairness is probably just the result of bands wisely holding back on releasing things into the holiday void that is the winternet, but let's be optimistic about it and say this is going to be one of the greatest years for music in your lifetime. Why not! All of that said, this mix is only 10 songs, but they are ten of the very best songs we posted this month, with the added [...]

Tweet I had a tasty lamb chop for lunch, which is a rarity. And now, not long afterwards, I've come across a new song from Lambchop which I really like. Coincidence? Yes. Gone Tomorrow is taken from the band's forthcoming Mr. M LP due on February 21 on Merge Records: Click it to download.

Jeremy Balderson At first, it's hard to imagine what need there is for a Craig Finn solo album. After all, he gets to run roughshod over The Hold Steady records with as many words as he can manage to pair with their classic rock attack - has he really got a backlog of ideas that don't fit that broad and welcoming template? As Clear Heart, Full Eyes , out next Tuesday but now available to stream in whole at NPR demonstrates, yeah he does. [...]

When Lambchop's LP Oh(Ohio) came out a few years ago, the record seemed to emerge from some sort of perverse lounge act which set off Kurt's poetic stylings. "Gone Tomorrow" the newest track from the forthcoming Mr. M begins as much of OH(Ohio) did, before taking a turn for a sitar, experimental droning jam session. Somehow Lambchop are managing to find the sonic equivalent for their front man's lyrical peccadilloes. Lambchop - Gone Tomorrow by MergeRecords [...]
Lambchop: "Gone Tomorrow" Hearing a bit of Cat Stevens in Kurt Wagner's voice on "Gone Tomorrow," a fine preview of his forthcoming Lambchop LP, Mr. M , that floats along in hushed, alt-country waters before washing ashore into more unknown territory. Collaborator Mark Nevers described the LP's instrumental concept as having a "psycha-Sinatra sound, one that involved the arranging of strings and other sounds in a more open and yet complex way." Whatever they're up to, it's really working here. You can give it a spin above and download the sprawling, 7-minute cut here .
