Happy Valentines Day with love from The Devil It's a Valentine's Day and what better way to celebrate than with a bumper crop of band and artists with some loose connection to love. Go Try 04 Six Queens - Larrikin Love by Young And Lost Club LARRIKIN LOVE "Paul My Dear" by irresponsiblerecordings DINOSAUR [...]

The boy/girl rapport between the both amorously and harmoniously aligned pairing of Ed and Alice is, needless to say, pivotal to the course of Sunless '97 . New cut Body Weather, one half of a limited 7" out June 18th on boutique indie Not Even , sees the balance tip toward the ethereality provided by the latter's intelligent, emotive vocal soars however as jelly-like synths wobble and Yebga Likoba hoots a sax solo – the like last heard soundtracking televised daytime dross at some point toward the end of the last century – to combine in a resplendent [...]

Were you holed up in Hackney and happened to be scouring the streets for some spick-and-spanned haunt in which to conjure papier mâché masks and the like, Apiary Studios would seem a fairly safe bet. Tonight however it's been overhauled by Dollop as impromptu bars are erected in abandoned back rooms and an unorthodox dancefloor is engineered next door. Spotlights set to an irredeemably satanic shade of sanguine, opening act o F F Love provides a comparably damnable experience: his face (perhaps appositely) obfuscated by cloth embellished with yins and yangs and his torso tattooed in love bites, [...]

When I found out the Young & Lost Club girls, namely Nadia Dahlawi and Sara Jade, were a little younger than myself it really put how much they have done and how influential they are in the London music scene into some perspective for me. And now, celebrating their 50th single and 5 years as a label, they are releasing a double-disc compilation of 35 of their favourites. Their story is one of musical fairytale of sneaking out of boarding school to catch gigs around London, before starting a beautifully budget fanzine called Pyrrha,’ [...]

Und The Boy With the Thorn in His Side spielen sie ja auch wieder auf Parties.
For textual reasons too difficult to discern without hearing the album, Courtney Love has decided that her next album is going to be released under the Hole band name . Perhaps by this is means it doesn't sound like a solo Courtney album - although since solo Love is generally music that sounds too weedy to stand alongside her former band's work, maybe that doesn't mean too much. Melissa auf der Maur appears on the record, although only providing backing vocals; Larrikin Love's Micko is in charge of the guitar. So it's not like it's [...]

Every year I like to put together the NME top 50 tracks as a playlist. It's a great way to discover tracks I might have missed (often they become hits the next year) and it also makes a pretty good playlist. I've also started working back through the years putting the previous lists together as playlists. Again this has uncovered some great tracks I have missed. This is one of those tracks, from 2006, I believe the band have now split up which is a real shame. There's a bit of a banjo/folk feel to start with, don't [...]
Well I had to The snow has caused alot of disruption, I've now had a 4 day weekend thanks to it, possibly of another closure is looking slim though as it's melting pretty quick, well you never know, could have another freak snow storm. Had a snowball fight yesterday which was reasonably fun and due to the sudden familiarity and quick boredom nature it has with me, I've stayed in all day. Had a bit of an xbox fest this morning. Enough about my life, lets get some tracks up, first two I listened to while [...]

''Accident and Emergency'' de Edward'ın geri vokali, ''the Freedom Spark''da ise Patrick'in yaylıları vardı. Grup, Mayıs 2007'de dağıldığını açıkladı. [...]

Yes it's been far, far too long - I could try and make excuses, but 6 weeks is too long for that and it has as much to do with my winter laziness as some essay deadlines and one long drunk bender... Anyway, last year I made my first mix for the Blue Walrus as a Christmas mix of my favourite well-known festive songs to get through the season. This year I have done something a little different by putting together a two disc set of Christmas tunes ranging from jazz-style classics to some 60s fun to some [...]

Today I give you some new Christmas songs + some older favourites. Let's start! The Swedish pling-plong orchestra Detektivbyrån has made their own version of "O Holy Night". The song was taped during a break in the recordings of Detektivbyrån's debutalbum, and as you can hear, the song definitely has the Detektivbyrån-plingplong sound... The song is hosted by the band, and will be available until the 1 of January 2008. Detektivbyrån - Oh Holy Night ...and I can't resist [...]
(No Ratings Yet) Loading ...

London is a really big city. I sometimes find this isn't said enough. If you've ever travelled from Barking to Hounslow, then you know what I mean (and have one of the weirdest commutes ever). This place never ends. As you'd expect, a city this size has proportionate effect on culture. Every year, hundreds of Londoners make it to national and international fame, and rightly so. The NME sells 70 000 copies a week without ever bothering to leave it. But on a lower level, how does this gel in the city itself? There have [...]

Is it worth the import?? We think so. This week's Friday 8-Track consists of 8 UK artists whose LPs won't see a release here in the US until 2007, if at all. But for those of us who just can't wait, here's a little preview of some records you may want to drop a few extra quid for. Check out tracks from Lily Allen, The Veils, The Fratellis, Jarvis, and more after the jump!! FYI: The Artist name is linked to their homepage. The Track Name is linked to the MP3 file. [...]
The Now Time Delegation "Nothing But a Heartache" (The Flirtations cover) I had never heard the original version of this song until the fabulous Rhino box set One Kiss Can Lead to Another: Girl Group Sounds Lost and Found came out last year. And though it's difficult to pick a favorite from a collection so chock-full of gems, this song was (and is) defintitely my No. 1. Similarly, until I'd heard the original last year and went on an immediate hunt for any band who [...]

Three songs for today. The new Bromhead's Jacket single about a nice little trip to McDonald's, a track from Larrikin Love's new album, and a classic from Magnetic Fields. Enjoy. Bromhead's Jacket - " A Trip To The Golden Arches ". Buy . Larrikin Love - " Forever Untitled ". Buy . Magnetic Fields - " Absolutely Cuckoo ". Buy [...]
