He aquí el playlist que los integrantes de Last Tide prepararon exclusivamente para Extended Play. Built to Spill - "Things Fall Apart". Nate: Personally, I think There is No Enemy is the best thing they've done since Keep It Like a Secret . This is my favorite track from it. Nate: Pienso que There Is No Enemy [...]

Something of the early/mid-90's has lingered in the air this week. From Jawbox 's triumphant, if brief, return to live action on Jimmy Fallon, the ever-emerging reviews of Pixies ' Doolittle shows, to my own personal listenings spanning those bands and recapping the new Dinosaur Jr . Oh, and plaid is back with a vengeance on those Gap adverts.....Cobain would be beaming. [...]

Ah, yes Black Friday is finally here. That eagerly anticipated shopping day when normal everyday shoppers act out their Kill Bill fantasies by going into Shopper-With-Insane-Look-In-Ey es-Is-Locked-On-The-30%-Off-DV D-Player-And-Will-Trample-You- To-Get-It mode. At 4:00 in the morning. While guzzling a Starbucks Frappa-Latte-something. And charging it on that 29% APR Chase card they bitched to everyone in creation about. And must not forget it's "Happy Holidays", not "Merry Christmas"; don't offend the PC crowd (I guess they're okay with "Black Friday"). Let's try and mellow them out with some music... • • • • A nearly perfect folk-rock [...]

got a bit of writerly block today so i'll open with a joke. how do you find will smith in the snow? just follow the fresh prints… sorry. come back. it's this damned sobriety, this vicious ocular ulcer, the grey grind of existence. it's getting to me. and whilst the posts of recent yore have been all about the bright, the breezy, the pop and the chorus and the skewed tune , this week has been (mostly) all about the noise and the doom and the wordless [...]

Recientemente [...]

After a few listens of shoegaze act Last Tide's debut EP, The Broken Places , I thought to myself, "BROOKLYN!" But no, this is a DC-based band featuring Nate Frey on guitars/vox, Rob Miller on bass, Libby Dorot on synth/vox, and Misha Alexander on drums/vox. The band draws inspiration from early ninties post-punk and shoegazer acts as well as honoring the scene with lo-fi recordings and dreary vocals. Last Tide don't modernize the genre though, they nearly replicate that era to the tee. Take that however you want, but the band [...]

~ Electric Tickle Machine - "Part Of Me" ~ Immediate brain-looper, for me anyway. Got hooked first time I heard it a few weeks ago, lord knows why it took me so long to post it. Sorry. Catchy rock - as simple as that. From their album Blew It Again which sounds very promising. ~ Last Tide - "W.Y.C." ~ Shoegaze-ish psychedelic rock from DC. Rather fast-paced and easy to dig along to. The vocals sound a bit slurry which I also like for some reason. [...]

Late last year we discovered Nate Frey , a solo artist with a healthy appetite for folk rock hailing from Washington DC in America. Well since we last caught up with Nate in our interview , he has since gone on to form a band called Last Tide , who have recently recorded their debut EP " [...]

I'm cheap. I love my local record shops ( Blue Arrow for used stuff, Music Saves for new), but every now and again, I tap the internet for vinyl to save a couple of bucks. (I'm a vinyl neophyte, as Mrs. Citizen hit me with a turntable for my birthday a mere two months ago, but my record collection is growing. Stop by for Radiohead and The Who if you're in the neighborhood.) I ordered Dark Side of the Moon from Amazon, used, for four dollars. Six with the shipping. I can't do better than [...]

Reading, downloading, listening, deleting and (of course) hoping that some of it will be worth sharing. So it's pretty much business as usual. + Goldcure - I Wanna Hear It Nothing new under the sun here, but sometimes rock music doesn't have to be all that complicated. + Jump Clubb - A Frozen Hug New band from Beverly Hills. It's Friday evening, so I hope it's OK posting a track [...]
Once again, our email inbox proves to be a valuable little nest for discovering impressive new music and we now have another fine example to share this evening. Last Tide is a lovely new Washington, D.C. quartet who seem to embrace less than subtle hints of a three year radius surrounding the year 1989 where indie rock and/or shoegaze are concerned. This is quite a good thing. A debut EP, titled

Last Tide is a Washington DC-based band consisting of Nate Frey on guitars/vox, Rob Miller on bass, Libby Dorot on synth/vox and Misha Alexander on drums/vox. The band is heavily influenced by the shoegaze and slowcore scenes, but also draws from punk, experimental music and post-rock, among other sources. Their music is distinguished by a focus on strong melodies and carefully considered arrangements. Their debut EP, recorded at Studio 1654 with Edie Sedgwick (Dischord Records) is released in October and will be available on CD, as well as digitally through Amazon MP3 and iTunes. [...]

Varsågoda och njut Last Tide - Shapeshifter Last Tide - The aftertaste of both

last tide : wyc last tide : shapeshifter Ποιό last tide εννοούν, το κινηματογραφικό ή το μουσικό δεν γνωρίζω, δεν έχει ίσως και σημασία. [...]

photo: Leila Batmanghelidj Post-rock never made into the mainstream, but it had a huge influence on alternative music in the earlu nineties. Washington DC band Last Tide keep the wall-to-wall music alive on their EP The Broken Places . In the five tracks they go for structure first, with the melody riding shotgun. Shapeshifter is the stand-out track - the music pushes the dreamy vocals of keyboardist Lilly Dorot and vice versa. Not as experimental as Sonic Youth , but with a [...]
