Laura Marling was the musical guest on the Carson Daly, performing (above) her song, "I Was Just A Card" off her latest album, A Creature I Don't Know . She will be touring the US and Canada this coming April, check dates. I Was Just A Card by Laura Marling

First up at the top you can enjoy "I Was Just A Card" while after the jump is a lovely performance of "Ghosts". I'm sure 2012 will hold some [...]

Our final Top Ten selection comes courtesy of the lovely, and ever radiant, Mrs Mackerel. Over to you girl! It's been a great musical year. But such a plethora of riches always presents a problem – what's a girl to choose? Fortunately some fine contributions in the preceding week means most bases are covered. Live gigs, although few and far between this year, have been rich in quality, and particularly finger-picking good on the guitar front. A fine ensemble of gig friends too, thank you. Without further ado, here's my humble opinion. And remember [...]

Welcome to FWBA's best-of 2011. This has been such a meaningful year in music to me that it's tough to represent in one post. I'm going to be honest, this took me quite a long time. I wanted to do this year justice because personally, it was a total dream: living in San Diego working with some of my favorite artists, going to SXSW and Lollapalooza, seeing Dave Bazan in stranger's living rooms, Feist play a hometown show, saw tune-yards electrified show at Soda Bar clocking in as one of my favorite performances, watching Zach Rogue and my boyfriend playing [...]
Ever wonder what will happen during the last five minutes of late-night TV talk shows? Here are tonight's notable performers: The Late Show With David Letterman (CBS): Childish Gambino Childish Gambino (a.k.a. actor/comedian Donald Glover) is promoting latest musical endeavor Camp. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (NBC): Il Volo Teenage tenor trio Il Volo is likely to [...]

Two thousand and eleven has been an odd year for me, and I think for music as well. Between acclimating to a completely different environment and being fully immersed in the music world, I foresaw a serious evolution and transformation of my music tastes prior to compiling my "Best of" lists. After the completion of said lists, it seems that not much has actually changed - not only in the last year, but the last five, when observing which names were included. To be honest, it was quite difficult to decide on 10 full albums I really [...]

Tweet vaso link I don't really feel like 2011 has been one of those years where one album or artist has just dominated indie music press coverage like we've seen in the past couple of years. We've had nothing like 2010-style Kanye, no world conquering magnum-opus like Merriweather Post Pavillion, no truly incendiary debut like Myths of the Near Future. Let's be honest, even GaGa had quiet one compared to 2010, meat dress and "Judas" aside. [...]
[It's Buzz Bands LA staff writer Seraphina L's turn to share a year-end list ...] By Seraphina Lotkhamnga Choosing one's favorite albums of the year is always a daunting task, and it's even worse when you have to whittle your list down to 25. Here are my thoughts on 2011 albums (local and non-local), and I'll go ahead and say that it's been a really great year for L.A. bands to break out. My special mentions [...]

The McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea, known now for the artistic noir experience "Sleep No More", played host Sunday night to Laura Marling . Marling's dark quirky/hooky folk songs, delivered amidst a stage full of wrapped Christmas presents and tall, eerrily-illuminated Christmas trees, proved to be a unique experience for those in attendence. Though it was relatively short set, about five songs, it was powerful enough to knit the 75-100 individuals into one warm fuzzy christmas sweater. Photo gallery below! View Photo Album
BEST OF 2011 : Songs | Albums (soon) | EPs/Singles | Discoveries/Heavy Rotation | Photos A really good year! The first 40 or so are mega-jams and the latter 38 (Rawkblog loves you, baby) are still jams. I purposefully left out songs by Destroyer because I couldn't decide, so consider Kaputt represented. You can play the entire page with the handy Ex.fm player in the bottom right corner, stream the playlist on Spotify and Rdio , and download everything after the jump. [...]

Laura Marling - Night After Night Avec son album précédent I Speak Because I Can , Laura Marling m'avait surprise par sa maturité. On [...]
The second part of Given and Taken in Ink's autumn mix is now up on 8tracks: Every time I make a new list, I think it's the best one I've ever done. Sometimes that's actually true. This just may be one of those times. There's the pure pop joy (no pun intended) of "Murderous Joy," the quirky brilliance of Siskiyou, and the weary rasp of Dan Mangan. I love the tranquility of "State / Meant" juxtaposed with the anxiously dreamlike "Curfews." "Ghost Towns" and "My Friends" are highlights of two masterful albums. And I [...]
40 - The Wombats – This Modern Glitch O segundo álbum do The Wombats tem uma característica marcante: a diversão.
