After watching the new video for "Strawberry Skies" from Games' debut EP, That We Can Play , it would be absurd of you to think it came from any other time period than the 80s. Directed by Josef Kraska, it hazily recollects video advertisements for chatlines and escorts before moving to a steamy shower scene. The low resolution, groovy hairstyles and ginormous telephones hint that this is all authentic late-night 80s TV. It syncs quite well with the Laurel Halo -led funkadelic single, which happens to front a dreamy ambience, retro synth sounds, a groovy disco backdrop and [...]

Is this what late-night TV in the 802s looked like? The Josef Kraska-made video is the colorful accompaniment to a no less 802s-feel track by Games with guest vocals by Laurel Halo . Totally digging the footage. This catchy track can be found on their debut EP That We Can Play . Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5scYXI vAr7w Technorati Tags: Games , Laurel Halo

Here's the Josef Kraska -directed official video for one of the best songs on one of the best records of 2010 , Games ' That We Can Play EP. We've always felt that the Laurel Halo -fronted " Strawberry Skies " would make a perfect sub for " Cruel Summer " in this scene , but this ' 80s chat line / shower montage works well too.

El nuevo sencillo de la banda juguetona de Brooklyn se llama "Strawberry Skies" y cuenta la colaboración de Laurel Halo, juntos hacen una rola bastante mágica. ♩ Games - Strawberry Skies (feat. Laurel Halo)
Laurel Hal o manages to give Games ' Strawberry Skies a disco-tingled funky vibe, easily turning this into one of the catchiest songs of 2010. Be sure to check out Games' That We Can Play EP (see what they did there?) if you like Strawberry Skies , you're in for a treat.

Laurel Halo - A Single Breath So it's a bit cold and rainy on the east coast today. Which is such downer weather, and unless you're Eeyore or Debbie, you know Debbie the Downer, no one likes be down and out. Laurel Halo has just the antidote for any weather related lethargy by giving you this glimmer of bouncy effect laden keyboards, jazzy beat and her beautiful voice. This track is off her Ambrosia EP. However, she's got a limited run album coming out the 20th called King Felix, which you can pre-order now [...]
Throughout this year's CMJ, NYC bloggers, indie labels, and other determined do-it-yourselfers curated countless showcases at spaces of all types, with unofficial showcases much like the "counter-SXSW" events that happen in Austin every spring. This was all in addition to the official CMJ music marathon's panels and showcases - an institution within the music industry since inception in 1980. The result? A win-win situation for all: if you had a badge, CMJ ruled. If you didn't have a badge, CMJ ruled. For me, this year's highlights included both official showcases and unofficial DIY shows, [...]

two keyboards and her laptop always sounds good check this band out their defiantly different but kind of cool. Enjoy Laurel Halo - Embassy Laurel Halo - Supersymmetry

The show of Laurel Halo 's I caught at CMJ might have been more impressive were I not too tired to stand up, and were the crowd more enthusiastic: the Brooklyn-via-Ann Arbor singer and keyboardist weaved a mesmerizing set of songs together with little more than two keyboards and her laptop. They were songs that complemented each other perfectly, songs that demanded a little toe-tapping at the very least. It's all electronic, light and bubbly as champagne, at times sounding like something they'd play behind slow-mo shots of springtime flowers blooming on some nature TV show, at times sounding [...]

Oh my goodness. Now that I've just gotten home from day 3 of CMJ, day 2 seems like ages ago. I can hardly remember what happened. Actually, there was some pretty good stuff, and you can check out my visual record of it over at Impose right here . I started the day off at Chocolate Bobka's CMJ party at Pianos. Family Portrait were, of course, my personal standouts. Those guys know how to build on a guitar riff, all the while giving off the impression that they're concocting something completely original with their guitars. San Francisco's Young Prisms [...]
