The Blogophilia repost project continues... We've been busy with a lot of good submissions, and that's a good thing. It's time to take a breather. Today, we move forward with our goal of re-posting past volumes of Blogophilia due to demand. Remember, we're doing this all the way to volume 22, and then phhffttt! We're stopping there. Volumes 23-28 are currently active (zip format only for volumes 23-27), and we're making re-posted volumes available for about a week. Get 'em while you can. Blogophilia 15 [...]

Lawrence Arabia is the nom de musique of New Zealand's prolific psych-pop maestro James Milne. In full Lawrence of Arabia garb, he knocked out an understated eponymous debut in 2006, and followed it up that same year with an infectious set of glorious pop songs released as the Reduction Agents — Milne in cahoots with members of the loose collective gathered around the Brunettes at Lil Chief Records. "Auckland CBD Part 23 is from a summery sensation of an album titled "Chant Darling," recorded in subsequent years in London by Milne, who supported himself by [...]
There's something awfully familiar about Lawrence Arabia 's new video..
Like with the premiere ("Tony"), "Chris" is a near shot-for-shot remake of the original, but considering that the source material was one of the highlights of the UK series' entire run (so far), it still resonated with me tremendously. It's always powerful when a character originally pigeonholed as a cartoon character turns out to be one of the tragic figure of the series. Of course the class clown has a story, and 'the tears of a clown' always manage to get us right in the old ticker. Hopefully those who have been turned off by Skins [...]
I have to admit... seeing the disparaging live tweets unfold during the broadcast made me hesitate viewing this MTV remake, but all things considered (working from the same basic opening script), MTV didn't do that bad of a job. Those that watched the original UK (and the subsequent cut BBC America) version might remember that the opening "Tony" episode wasn't really the best foot forward (my review and preview ). As a means to get the ire the Parents' Television Council (always good for a ratings push -- thanks [...]

Incroyab'. [...]
I started out my CMJ with the Paper Garden day party at The Living Room. When I got there Kidstreet from Canada was just getting started. They're a cutesy brother-sister group (one sister, two brothers) that play what I have to call electro-pop. For some reason they reminded me of the Freelance Whales, not at all in sound but just about every other way possible. All the while I was enjoying the

On Saturday mornings I like to do absolutely nothing other than drink massive amounts of coffee and watch music videos. I don't mean "official" videos either, I mean unique performance videos. The videos wonderful sites like La Blogotheque , Shoot The Player , Black Cab Sessions , and NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts shoot. Last weekend I was scrolling through several Tiny Desk Concerts when I came upon Lawrence Arabia , a band [...]
Band Bios: Villagers | Lawrence Arabia Villagers Villagers is Conor J. O'Brien. A singer and songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. He creates upbeat and inventive folk and has (sometimes) been described as a new Conor Oberst – with a contemporary feel. He howl (literally), write deep and poetic lyrics and create that kind of rebellious [...]

Apple Pie Bed - Lawrence Arabia Apple Pie Bed - Lawrence Arabia ( Buy ) Prior to being acquainted with Lawrence Arabia's US debut Chant Darling , I saw him and his "prime ministers" warm up the crowd at the Bowery Ballroom for a sold out Freelance Whales show. I instantly loved James Milne aka Lawrence Arabia . He has the swagger, voice and charm necessary in any musician. That being said, I was quite excited to find out what he was made of on the [...]
