Rick Alverson's The Comedy is a film about bored, aging hipsters and the film, which stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim of Tim And Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job! fame, recently screened at Sundance. James Murphy, himself the gold standard for aging hipsters, appears in the film and Alverson posted a clip on his Vimeo page featuring Wareheim, Heidecker and Murphy heckling a cabbie. Premiering at this year's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT is a film by the title of SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS . In the Q&A after the screening I asked the director why he wanted to tell this story (because it's a dark one that really doesn't have much meaning). The 'meaning' is supposed to be that the protagonist crosses a boundary (by roughing up his last girlfriend, which we learn via her letter to him) and is then unable to get back to the more innocent person he was before. On April 2nd 2011, LCD Soundsystem performed its ultimate show at Madison Square Garden, the end of one of the greatest band of the last decade. 'Shut Up And Play The Hits' is the documentary of the last 48 hours of LCD Soundsystem directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace and you can watch the trailer below before its official release at Sundance Festival on April 22th 2012.

LCD Soundsystem is, if you recall, now defunct. (I think I know some people who are still in the red after going up to see them play Madison Square Garden one last time in 2011.)
