This is the final installment of "All The Bands We Loved Before", where I share with you Coachella "previews" by reminding you about bands we've already written about in blogs past. Weekend 1 of Coachella has concluded. Most acts could be seen live via streaming, and many more could be re-broadcast through Coachella's YouTube channel. This tool has been totally invaluable in helping us decide who to see when we venture out for weekend 2. One of the tough decisions is skipping Arctic Monkeys . Yep. And even though Mookie [...]

Who: Le Butcherettes in the Gobi Tent. In 3 or Fewer Words: Pretty satanic songstresses. Memorable Because: Mexico's garage punk duo-turned-trio (with the help from bassist Jonathan Hischke — of Broken Bells, Dot Hacker) tore the stage up and gave me the heebie-jeebies at the same time, but it was great entertainment from beginning to end. Guitarist/keyboardist and lead vocalist Teri "Gender Bender" Suarez wore a floral sundress, as did her bandmate and drummer Lia Braswell, but there were moments when Suarez seemed like she was going through an exorcism [...]
Well, this is pretty cool. Old Town School of Folk Music instructor Shelly Miller teaches a Women's Rock Ensemble in which adults jam on rock 'n' roll gems from, as the website states, "Heart to Ani, Patti Smith to Alanis," and gives pupils some live performance chops. Recently Miller's lesson plan included a cover of the Le Butcherettes track, "Henry Don't Got Love." The class pretty much nails it in all it's gritty glory, and there's even some bow-on-guitar action. And for Butcherettes fans, the band is coming to the Subterranean on [...]

Garage-punk trio Le Butcherettes are currently at work on a followup to last year's breakout debut, Sin Sin Sin. Meanwhile, here is another Track (and Video) from the 2011 album, following the Daily Dose post in June of that year. Download New York Free Music, Every Day. Subscribe to the Daily Dose. [...]
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: Le Butcherettes Video: 'I'm Getting Sick of You' Highlight: "Being able to to play with Lia and Omar on MTV Iggy has been nothing but a pleasurable experience, wanting nothing more or less to create an understanding of the self," singer/guitarist Teri Gender Bender tells Spinner. "This video, 'I'm Getting Sick of You,' is so special to me because this is a song I wrote in my bedroom when I was 17, in [...]

"i remember being in high school and thinking that the teachers were really lazy. i hid in feminists books, not the anti-men type of books but more of the women's rights type of readings. somewhere i got this idea to make a band that would keep that concept alive. i wanted to talk about the exploitation of women as sex objects and slaves, and that's what le butcherettes does through its music. " teri gender bender " is not what it sounds like, i'm not [...]

Beloved garage-punk trio Le Butcherettes are currently at work on a followup to last year's breakout debut, Sin Sin Sin. However, that hasn't kept Teri Gender Bender out of the public eye. The group's charismatic singer/guitarist/keyboardist recently recorded a captivating live acoustic set for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series. Watch the video HERE . Mexican rockers, Le Butcherettes, played a bare bones Tiny Concert for NPR that you can watch below. I have neglected listening to this album properly since the release for no good reason. I'm a convert and look out for them to be at Coachella where Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will be playing with the gals and with his bros of ATDI on both Sundays. Double time! If you haven't checked out their album,"Sin Sin Sin," you can buy it here . Le Butcherettes-Henry Don't Got Love [mp3] Le Butcherettes-New York [...]

Een van de muzikale live-afknappers van 2011 was wat mij betreft The Kills op Lowlands. Ik had hoge verwachtingen, maar droop na een paar nummers af. Ongeïnspireerd spelen is dodelijk. Tja, ik had dan die zondag maar achter Blink, onze...

Over the next couple of nights I'll be revealing my top 5 albums, my top 5 videos and then, on New Years Eve my top 10 tracks of the year. Tonight it's my favourite albums of the year in partnership with the Hype Machine's annual zeitgeist survey. In a year when there have been so many amazing albums picking a top 5 has not been an easy task but, after much deliberation, procrastination and perambulation I finally plumped for... 1. EMA - Past Lives, [...]

Seeing how our staff has distinct tastes and opinions on music, it would be nearly impossible for us to determine a 10 Albums of 2010 list as a single entity without excessive bloodshed. So over the next couple of days, we'll be posting Top 10 Albums of 2011 lists as determined by individual Loud Loop Press staff members. Today, associate editor Audrey Leon offers up her list for Top 10 Albums of 2011. What a long strange trip it has been. All obligatory yearbook quotes aside, 2011 has been an interesting year for music. I spent [...]

Photo by Debi Del Grande Not even a broken foot could get in the way of Iggy Pop and his Stooges ' utter destruction of the Hollywood Palladium. Granted, it took a couple months of rescheduling but the legend had no trouble making up for lost time, ripping through a career-spanning 17-song set to a capacity-crowd at one of Hollywood's biggest venues. Support came in the form of Whitey Kirst and Le Butcherettes . The latter's spiked garage-punk was especially well-received by a crowd who were all too eager to headbang and thrash about [...]

Le Butcherettes Welcome to the weekend, folks. There's plenty on our plate yet again with free shows by Wax Idols and Mannequin Men, plus sexy shows by Le Butcherettes and much, much more. Onward, ho! FRIDAY LE BUTCHERETTES Last time we saw Mexico garage punkers Le Butcherettes in Chicago, the drummer puked all over the photo pit at Lollapalooza [...]
Our beautiful Chicago readers, the day has come! Tomorrow - that being, Friday, November 4th - Subterranean plays host to the raucous and the loud: Le Butcherettes and Gypsyblood . If you're feeling angsty from all that post-Halloween depression, worry no more. Tomorrow's festivities promise nothing less than blood-smattering chaos, whether it be Teri Gender Bender's horrifically erotic on-stage antics, or Gypsyblood's knack for visceral, crunchy fuzz. Keyword: chaos. If that's your sort of thang, then it would behoove you to make this your Friday night. Tickets are currently priced at $10, so [...]
