Back in the long long ago, it was extremely rare to stumble upon free music. In fact, as the historical photograph above documents, many of the musicians of yesteryear were quite fond of playing one note compositions. Not so today! Lucky for all of us, musicians today pepper the sonic landscape with a cornucopia of amazing sounds. And you know what? Many of them offer these sounds for FREE. And that's where we come in; that's where EAR FARM's Free Music Fridays can be of much service to you, the music lover. So come on and click through the following [...]
Wallpaper (featuring Jacob Safari & Kid Static) - "Pool Party" ; It may have been a drab and gray summer for the most part, but that didn't stop Wallpaper from doing their best to get the party started. They provided the remix of "The Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell" that got everyone hooked and on this tune they create the coolest vibe ever to get down at a pool party! This is how I'll remember summer 2009, even if that's being a bit delusional! Grade : B+ [...]

Rob Sheridan & Tamar Levine They do try their best, I believe that, but it might be time to declare any Virgin Festival in Canada to be well and truly cursed. Don't get me wrong, despite everything, I've always had a great time at the three in Toronto thus far, but you can't really say they've gone smoothly. In 2006 , they lost one headliner in Massive Attack ( Broken Social Scene wasn't a bad pinch hitter at all, but that it was necessary was unfortunate) and then [...]
The Pretenders' venue changed again, Romana Falls and Le Loup announce TC dates & Zee Avi plays the Current.
Le Loup has announced that the band will be playing Minneapolis' 7th St. Entry this October with Nurses in support.

Le Loup are about to drop their sophomore debut this fall and first single "Beach Town" is available now as a preview to the new material. Upcoming album Family will be hitting stores September 22nd via Hardly Art . Should be one worth your time. Download: Le Loup - Beach Town [MP3]

Le Loup has a new mp3 floating about on the internets. For a while Le Loup were shedding members (see Pree ), and have been whittled down to a 5 piece. As it turns out, they have been hard at work on a new album. According to their bio the "result is an album of experimental rock songs and campfire sing-alongs, set amidst swirling textures and murky production." That sounds about right to me. Take a listen... Downloadable: Beach Town (mp3) The album is called Family and it looks [...]

Le Loup - Beach club Andra fullängdaren Family släpps 22 september

One of my favourite releases of recent years was the debut album from Le Loup . "The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly" was a wonderful exploration of the possibilities of melody. Somewhat under rated and perhaps overlooked, it was a delight from start to finish. The good news is the band is about to release their second album. "Family" was recorded in a remote cabin in North Carolina and a Maryland basement, eschewing anything artificial and embracing everything organic and natural. Containing 11 tracks, the new album was produced by band originator Sam [...]
Le Loup's lead-singer and I went to college together. This is, unfortunately, like saying you lived in Portland with someone. Sure, it was small and you probably should have known each other, but it's certainly no guarantee that you actually did. So despite four years in the bread-basket of Ohio, we never hung out. Point of fact, Sam Simkoff and I passed like two ships in the night. But Simkoff
I've been waiting for this day for a while now... the day that Sub Pop spinoff Hardly Art would release a new song from the miraculous Le Loup (whose debut album was an overlooked gem of 2007). With comparisons to Animal Collective and Sufjan Stevens chasing the band around (and probably boosting their '07 buzz), it would make sense that the band might further identify their sound and refine their ambitions a bit on album number two, the upcoming Family LP. Indeed, they've added more band members, fleshed [...]

Le Loup - Family Out 9/22 on Hardly Art Le Loup - "Beach Town"

Following the pretty but relatively pared down electro-acoustic tunes of their debut The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly , seven-member BTW Le Loup are taking their album title and sounds in different directions: a pithier LP name ( Family ), and according to the press release trumpeting its arrival, a slightly expanded, more band-oriented sound. Lead MP3 "Beach Town" certainly sounds more organic, full with a humid jungle groove and bassline, polyrhythmic hand drums, with electronics, faraway vocal hollers, and ascending guitar lines giving it all a sense of ambiance, lilt, [...]
![Le Loup: The Throne Of The Third Heaven Of The Nations' Millennium General Assembly [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1906628_lg.jpg)
With such a long album name, one would think elements of an experimental nature would likely be found within; and about Le Loup 's The Throne Of The Third Heaven Of The Nations' Millennium General Assembly one would be correct in that assumption. Actually, The Throne is a concept album largely inspired by Dante's Inferno . "Canto I" and "Canto XXXVI" take their names from the first and last chapters of the book. The album marks the second release for Hardly Art . [...]

I've been getting a few emails from record companies and bands lately. So far, all of the stuff has been solid which is great. Today, I'd like to introduce to you a americana/indie band from DC called Pree. Fronted by May Tabol (formerly of Le Loup ) who has a beautiful voice, they released their debut EP entitled A Chopping Block earlier this year. Heaven Is a Drag In the Parlor Lack of Fight [...]
