Speech Debelle won this year's Barclays Mercury music prize last night, making her the first woman in seven years to scoop the coveted industry award.She is the first woman to take home the award and £20,000 prize money, since fellow London-born rapper Ms Dynamite won in 2002 with her debut album A Little Deeper. The shortlist for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize for best British or Irish album of the last 12 months has been announced today. The nominees are: Bat For Lashes 'Two Suns' Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan, was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2007 for her debut album 'Fur And Gold' – her second nomination is for its follow-up, 'Two Suns'.
