I remember the first time I heard the song "Little Black Submarines" from the Black Keys ' most recent release El Camino. The tune immediately inspired visions of Zoso and Jimmy Page dancing in my head. One can probably imagine the effect hearing the song live had on me then – guitarist Dan Auerbach focused under a single light for the soft beginning before ripping on his guitar strings for the powerful end. But, overall, the most amazing part about this concert, the last one on their European tour, was not that one song but the extended [...]
Filed under: News Mark Milan/FilmMagic The Rolling Stones have cycled through their fair share of axemen. However, if things had shaken out differently, their longest-serving guitarist-not-named-Keith might have been in Led Zeppelin . During an episode of his Absolute Radio show, Ronnie Wood revealed that he turned down an offer to join an early incarnation of Zep before hitching his wagon to the Stones.

I want you to take 3 things away from this interview. First, Mini Mansions know what vajazzling is, and they support it (respect). Second, Mini Mansions have actually seen (and practically saved) a real Koala- and Koala's are fucking cute. Third, Mini Mansions are playing our show, along with Haim and Pratley, on Saturday February 4th at The Bootleg Theater . This is a show you do not want to miss, I promise. Buy your tickets in advance here, they are going quickly: http://ticketf.ly/wK7Rl7 Ok, so your house is on fire, what [...]

Photo Credit: Autumn De Wilde Breakout Athens, Alabama quartet Alabama Shakes may be most noted in the press for being the freshest dose of retro-soul around, but - as they've made an effort to point out in a first round of interviews - influences from a range of genres, namely rock, are either beneath the surface on their debut or in store for future releases. There's no need to tiptoe around the label adjustment, however, as frontwoman Brittany Howard and Co. just kicked the door open by taking on classic-rock royalty: Performing [...]

Led Zeppelin, "In the Evening"
This is a movie that I really can not tell you how man times I have seen. Back in the early eighties me and my Navy buddies used to go see this at the mid-night movies. Good times with good friends and good music. Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same [Blu-ray] Editorial Reviews Amazon.com For Led [...]

Tweet Maybe it's just the title of the song that started the gears up in my mind but Yukon Blonde 's " Stairway " feels like our generations version of Led Zeppelin when they made the shift from acoustic troubadours to electric gods. Yukon blonde has held my attention for some time now and this morning when I pressed play I was not prepared for what came at me. It's like something in the [...]

Download French singer Alice Michel's cello-and-piano cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love.'

A Robert Plant e [...]
There have been a large amout of very good covers surfacing as of late. We had Destroyer covering New Order, Silver Swans doing Lana Del Rey, and the fabulous cover of The Zombies by Memoryhouse. Get ready to add another one to that list. French chanteuse Alice Michel sent MOKB this unexpected revamping of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love featuring Alice Michel's brooding vocals sung over Gilles Erhart's tickling of the ivories, Maëva Le Berre's beautifully haunting cello work, with Emilie Bouchereau and [...]

French singer/songwriter Alice Michel adds a feminine touch to Led Zep's "Whole Lotta Love." There are a lot of things wrong-sounding about that last sentence. Singer/songwriter? Feminine touch to Led Zep? French? Even weirder, it kinda works. After a bare-boned start, the song picks up about two minutes in, and it's definitely not a headbanger's cup of tea, but Alice pulls of something unique out of an unlikely place.
