Lana Del Rey has released yet another single that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. "Summer Wine" is a little ditty created with her now-boyfriend. It's a new sound really to her and it's not bad at all. The video is made in signature Lana Del Rey handheld honeymoon style. Related articles Lana Del Rey & Her Real Life BF Sparkle In Summer Wine! Drink It Up HERE! Tweet Here’s what lead vocalist for Halasan Bazar, Fredrik Rollum Eckhoff had to say about the mix: "I built this hazy mix of organ instrumentals & twangy guitar around the soundtrack for Valeries Week of Wonders, an old weird eastern European psychedelic film. It´s pretty much a homage to Broadcast and their vision, but merged with my own twisted Nordic take on psychedelia, with swedish cosmic organ kings Bo Hannson & Eric Malmberg & the new twang pop of White Fence, Woods & MGMT. Strangely it all blends [...]
This reissue of Hazlewood's 1963 debut re-introduces us the long-unavailable original mono recordings of the album, which sound excellent, but it also tells a story of Hazlewood the young performer. At the end of Light in the Attic's new reissue of Trouble is a Lonesome Town, the listener gets a six-part biography narrated by Hazlewood, initially sent out as promo material for the album. It's worth noting that Hazlewood's story starts with opposition and anonymity. According to him, one of the "almost 200 people in the United States" asked "who is Lee Hazlewood?" When he offers an answer, the [...]
For years, one of my rituals when hitting up record stores was a quick visit to the Lee Hazlewood section - alternately located, depending of the shop, in 'country', 'rock', or the most perplexing, 'oldies'. You could occasionally find old, beaten down, used vinyl or foreign-pressed (often shoddily produced) import CDs. Other than that, locating [...]

You’re favorite staying in website has just gotten a bit more cozy. Retired are the Friday “Weekend Shots” in favor of another look at our favorite LPs which should have a home in your record collection. —Ed. If Lee Hazlewood lingers in the contemporary cultural memory, it’s easily due to his work with Nancy Sinatra. On The LHI Years: Singles, Nudes & Backsides (1968-71), the Light in the Attic label collects a bunch of his post-Nancy collaborations and a welcome helping of his solo shots, and the results [...]

Nancy & Billy Strange do their amazing arrangement of the Sonny Bono composition "Bang Bang" (or did Lee Hazlewood arrange it?). This is the only video I've ever seen of the great Billy Strange .

Before we close the door on 2012, There is one more list of records I have to get off of my chest. The reissue category is fast becoming my favorite list to make. For some reason it ends up being more eclectic and thus more interesting to me than my list of albums and singles. I hope you find something here to spice up your record collection. 1. Twin Cities Funk & Soul ( Secret Stash ) This lightening hot [...]

In 2012, The Orchard’s large catalog grew way larger, thanks to mergers with IODA and IRIS. To manage the influx, we put all of the new tunes onto a 50TB external hard drive, stuck the USBs into our left ears, and swallowed 168 hours-worth of “5 Hour Energy.” When we ...

We're generally skeptical about the consumerist crapfest that is Black Friday — spend Thursday giving thanks for everything you do have, and wake up early the day after to throw elbows like crazy at your fellow shoppers to spend a shitload of cash on everything you don't have — but if there's one thing we do like buying, it's music. Happily, Black Friday does tend to bring a decent amount of music-related specials, mostly via the folks at Record Store Day . As such, we've dutifully thumbed through this year's list of special releases to sort the proverbial wheat [...]

Elliott Smith - Let's Get Lost [...]
