Leila has already released three albums, a trilogy if you will. In 2009 she started to write a body of work that felt different. Maybe it was being sober, but this one seemed to be about being more direct. Leila first met Mt. Sims at a fancy dress party way back in 2006. Leila went as Leila. Mt. Sims dressed as a Computer Processing Unit fashioned from a cardboard box with strategically placed slits. To describe something as 'interesting' is to effectively damn it with faint praise and while one can certainly admire the intricate, difficult compositions contained within U & I , on the whole it is a difficult album to love. Half of the tracks feature guest appearances from Matt Sims or ( Mt. After a nearly 3 year wait, London based Iranian artist Leila will follow up her well received 2008 release, ‘ Blood, Looms and Blooms ’. The first single to be dropped from the Warp release, due out on January 24 in the UK, is an increasingly chaotic, yet unnervingly soulful jam, thanks mostly to Mt. Sims’ desperate and longing vocals. The album ‘ (disappointed cloud) anyway ’ will be released on Warp records on January 23. Preorder it HERE.
