Been real busy the past couple of days as work has been taking its toll. It's frustrating at times, but just to keep things in perspective I keep telling myself that work pays the bills. Not that it makes me any happier, but I should be old enough by now to understand that, from time to time, one has to do things one does not enjoy doing. A Classic Education will be supporting British Sea Power on the band's US tour this spring. The [...]
Andreas , guitarist of Leisure Alaska , has been so kind to mail a reply to my inquiries about what or what isn't happening with the band. The good news is that (technically) band is still a band though it's now scattered geographically (band members living/staying in The UK and Denmark ). Andreas explains that they faced adversity at a time when the band's enthusiasm was low, which is a "classic" band killer. But future plans still include the release of an album, though they have [...]
Not a highly original post this one, but for whatever nostalgic reason I spent some time last night checking out bands I've at some point featured on this blog. And on quite a few occasions I ended up asking myself: "what happened?", "why haven't we heard anything from these guys for ages?", "why weren't they huge?" etc. etc. Lots of questions to be answered, so I put on my Sherlock Holmes cap, found a magnifying glass, worded "the game's afoot" and started to search for information, updates or (heck) even signs of life from a few of the [...]
Coincidentally I just stumble upon this, but exactly one year ago today; Leisure Alaska published the track Present Yet Unseen (and a video) and announced that it was taken from their soon to be released second album. Here we are 365 days later and still waiting for that album, but Present Yet Unseen remains a brilliant song! + Present Yet Unseen
Northern Portrait - I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me Min begejstring for den københavnske trio kender ingen grænser og bandets nyligt udsendte EP "Napoleon [...]
As you probably know by now Scandinavia is an indie pop-making factory. In fact I'd wager that if you climbed to the rooftop of any shopping centre in the region you'd likely to come across some cool haircuts playing the sweetest of audio. Which brings us neatly onto Copenhagen outfit Leisure Alaska, they of the odd CGI video (see link below) and spirited melody. Their album 'The Deja In My Vu'
Hey There Mr. by Leisure Alaska (you probably remember the amazing video accompanying the track?) was one of my f avorite songs of 2005 and now the band has finally started recording new songs for a sophomore album. First output named Present Yet Unseen is a short, but incredibly catchy 60's inspired piece that bodes really well for the " soon to be released album ". Hopefully it will be a wee bit better than the debut, which (to be quite frank) was somewhat of a disappointment. + [...]
