"Quick is not Atlantic Line. Their music is a sneak attack on your subconscious. Whether it's an 11 minute space journey called The Voyage Home or the speeding train track anthem of Big Brother, these tunes will incite drug like visuals into your daydream before you can realize what's happening. Soaring, cinematic, spacey, rocking, and an anthem to the sublime can all be used when describing Atlantic Line's sound. The best thing is to just pass along the album while it's a free download and let everyone else figure it out for themselves". [...]
Today's Daily Dose is from LA group Atlantic Line, and is from their debut album Exit To Intro . The band were nice enough to contact us directly, and boasts one member from a group that we have featured here before, Lemonwilde , so we thought a little album review would be in order! It's a corker, and best of all it's totally, unabashedly FREE! There's a nice easy link to donate to the band so they can buy petrol, record more stuff and, y'know, eat! [...]

If you're anything like me, you read blog after blog after blog with lists that seem to mirror each other just a little bit too much. And then you ask yourself "Why?" Why do bloggers come up with these lists? Why are so many of them so much alike? Answer: I have no idea - but I'm going to do one anyways. This year wasn't exactly a stellar year, in my opinion, but there were some really good albums that came out that deserve noting again. Maybe they slipped under the radar with all the hype [...]
Well ladies and gentlemen, I have decided to enter the podcasting world and present a show that showcases some of the bands Under The Dog writes about and hopefully some that I don’t have time to write about. As I’ve stated before, UTD is expanding it’s music to more than heavy ass abrasive music and branching out into more stuff that I think continues on the tradition here at UTD. Since it’s not going to be all hardcore and metal, I’m gonna place the mellowest songs first, move into hip-hop and transition over to the most abrasive stuff at [...]

Flying back from a Ripple scouting mission in Montreal and Toronto, I brought up this unrecognized treasure on my ipod and was instantly transported far higher than the 35,000 foot cruising altitude of my A319 airplane. Anyone who’s read the Ripple for some time knows how much I love writing as I return from these scouting trips. There’s something about flying high above the clouds, disconnected with the earth below that lends itself to fully losing myself in the music, the very act of flying allowing the music to manifest as if it’s a physical being, carrying me [...]

Lemonwilde - Just this Ashtray MP3 Lemonwilde - Danse MP3 Lemonwilde : Promising EP from the LA five-piece band creating interesting songs circulating around teenage angst mood and associated dark atmospheres. Intense suffering voice and a alternative electroacoustic music somewhere between Elbow, Calla and Radiohead. Recommended.

Atmospheric, emotion filled rock, Lemonwilde come in somewhere between Radiohead (Pablo Honey era) and Mansun . Not that they have a 90s sound about them, they are fresh and have their own sound. As I listen to Just This Ashtray my friend has just text me to tell me he's split up with his girlfriend, I can't think of a better song to listen to at a melancholy time than this. With songs that have many layers and a real feeling to them it reminds me of [...]

You may have noticed older Mp3 links are now becoming a little temperamental at times, which normally suggests everyone is enjoying some wonderful music and ever so gently ripping the arse out of my hosting bandwidth. Things will be free flowing and seamless again over the weekend, until then, our antique emergency generators have reluctantly kicked in with a reassuring splut splut whrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . Grand Lake : She`s A Hater Learn More And Buy Abra Moore : After All These Years [...]
Lemonwilde’s Red Room EP is an angst laden romp fully featuring dark imagery and a sullen mix of evocative sounds. That being said, Red Room is in not an emo album but rather a rock album that investigates said emotions. For those not in the know, Lemonwilde is a six man group that has been rising in the blogosphere even performing at one of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s parties, ironic that the former Buffy star would enlist a group who has such a dark sound. Their music, however, can hardly be relegated to celebrity parties and [...]

Lemonwilde produces moody brooding songs, which sort of have a suave and mysterious air around them - songs which might give you that feel of wanting to watch a nice vampire movie or maybe even an urge to do a tribute YouYube video for 'Angel'. It may just be coincidence, but the band first started out, playing for a wrap party for a Sarah Michelle Gellar movie. This five-piece Los Angeles based group recently released their first EP called Red Room . The EP boasts of 5 new tracks that you can also sample at [...]

Their website says "It's not just a band, it's a way of life". After listening to a few of their songs and reading their bio and blog, I'm inclined to agree. L.A.'s The Bastard Fairies seem to create quirky and peculiar enough music to avoid being labeled as "cute" - because they're also thorny enough to swallow. And there is much to digest - from love songs to political protest, lead singer Yellow Thunder Woman works the tension between the coy and the seductress, the girl and the woman, the shadow and the light. The result is indie [...]

This week focused on listening to artists in more than the usual way of hearing their music, but also in peeking a little into their creative lives and struggles. To conclude it, for now, I wanted to return to the band which inspired me to ask these questions in the first place and that is still leaving its mark on my musical life. The members of L.A.'s Lemonwilde ( original post here ) were kind enough to answer a few my questions. Q . Lemonwilde is composed of 4 unique members. Can you tell me a [...]
Isn't that a cool name for a band, Lemonwilde ? They're from L.A. and I'm loving their song "Just This Ashtray." For me, it works on two levels. It can easily be enjoyed as a straightforward homage to the lure of nicotine and the difficulty of quitting smoking. But I also see it as a metaphor for the pain and necessity of leaving behind other things you're done with, be they habits or relationships. I like that in a song, when you can read into it what you [...]

"Hold your breath, it's time to die". Quite a dramatic opening for a song whose title ("Baby Swimming") made me think at first about the baby swimming on the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind . The singer, Finnish Bon Jouni, gave very little details about himself or why he has chosen to chart such dark disturbed waters in his music. He does it well, in a calm and confident voice that will lead you to the gallows, if you'll let him. Check out Bon Jouni on MySpace (in hopes for future updates). [...]

This is probably the best track I've received in the 3WTM mailbox this month. I found this track quite instant and while their web site is all style and no content that's not the case with the song. At times a bit Soundgarden and a bit Radiohead you could class it depressing but that would do it a disservice. Besides "say goodbye to this romance because I no longer need you" is a strong, confident stance to take. So I advice everyone to go out and dump their other halves, I'll stick with mine just so I know my advice [...]
