So I received an email earlier this week into last week asking me to check out this song. As most of you know I had been staying mostly to a rap consensus but had just changed the site to be open to more alternative and other genres so I guess they caught me at the right time. Just This Ashtray sounds like a song that would fit perfectly into so many big movie scenes, yeah random lol but I could definitely see this song playing at like the climax of a movie. The lead singer has a rugged [...]

We have developed a formula that is both incredibly familiar and yet something new at the same time. Damn right they have. This is Los Angeles' Lemonwilde, an alternative/electroacoustic (love that description) band whose music is a subterranean ride straight to all five senses. Their newest EP, Red Room, is your iv for dark and moody no-pretense-about-it rock that is your trip for the taking. All five tracks on the EP stand alone in composition yet still all seem to have a predefined purpose for the message in the music. Band members [...]

Wildflower season is here. I asked my husband, "Are they still wildflowers if I planted them?" "Sure," he said, "It says so right on the package." Actually, I collect most of my seeds myself from wild sources, including these tidy tips and goldfields. Agnes at It All Started With Carbon Monoxide breaks her own rule against posting videos with an old winner by Queen. Rock misses Freddie Mercury. She has also discovered Oddee, a website devoted to things that are...odd, and the 20 Most Amazing Coincidences. Just [...]

Our first band has a pretty interesting story. Passion Pit, which is based in Boston, started as a solo project of singer/songwriter Michael Angelakos, who has been writing songs since he was 5 years old. According to his bio, one day Angelakos just stopped creating. Not by choice. His creative well was simply in need of a severe refill, so he started toying with the plug-ins and infinite possibilities of a computer program. He produced a six track EP titled Chunk of Change, which was intended to be a Valentine's Day gift for his girlfriend, [...]

Aside from pretending to be disappointed that Manchester legends The Stone Roses are about to reform (topically, a trend you could associate with the crap 80`s band Spandau Ballet) and also continuing to fail miserably at making our Twitter posts remotely interesting, we`ve been locked away and force fed some serious musical scenery. Lemonwilde have been drawn to Los Angeles, the city they call home. The defiant anti-angst kind of demur is energetic and honest, the art of opening your heart and wearing it on your sleeve generates moments that frankly come across quite terrifying. You will be hard pushed [...]

California band Lemonwilde has just recently finished their first ep. called "Red Room", a rock electronic ep featuring dark moody songs. Lemonwilde's 5 song EP Red Room is a triumph, in that it expresses angst without sounding pretentious, emo or boring. In fact it's quite the opposite: simple, well crafted, beautifully executed and moody as hell. The vocals are powerful, understated and really quite sexy (think Chris Cornell at his most pensive), and the sparse but varied instrumentation gives the songs a kind of passionate melancholy. And yes I know that doesn't make sense, but trust me, you'll understand when you [...]

I was privileged enough to have been contacted by Luke Martinez of Lemonwilde the other day to listen to their debut EP, Red Room . This part of the "job" is still very exciting for me: I usually look for new thrilling artists but sometimes they come to me. Lemonwilde started in Los Angeles in 2007, and if you listen closely you'll be able to recognize the city through their music, or at least a dark, haunting and haunted version of it (some of the songs also have a sort of a Gotham feel to them). [...]

Lemonwilde 's Joe Murray(Vocals), Ter Dines(Synth/Piano),Lucas Marinez(Guitars) & Henry Pope (Bass) introduced themselves to me via my inbox a couple of days ago. As I do with every band that's not trash metal, I checked them out. I love it when bands want to promote themselves and interact with our readers!!! So here is the deal...you visit the band's myspace and leave a comment thus "ROCK SELLOUT KNOWS GOOD MUSIC" (Henry from the band's words not mine) and you will receive a free download of the new e.p Red Room for free pre-release. Now that's pretty easy, don't [...]

Lemonwilde Genre: Alternative / Electroacoustic / Indie From: Los Angeles, California, United States I received an email yesterday (the Devil is getting control of his inbox at last!) from LA band Lemonwilde inviting me to take a listen to their new EP. So, as you'd expect from such a diligent blogger, I checked out what other people have been saying about them and they've been frequently compared with Radiohead. So I took a listen to their EP naturally expecting to hear something akin [...]

Yikes, Lemonwilde , much like our very own Muse, these American starlets offer a wonderful alternative to Franz and alike. Combining the art of emotive lyrics, post rock and falstetto styled walls of sound. Must admit to this being one of the few tracks we've been sent over the last 2/3 weeks that has actually moved us. This track is taken from their forthcoming EP 'Red Room' self released - and available by pigeon post on their myspace MP3: Lemonwilde: Finding Jesus In Math
