It's been a while... I guess for long periods of this year there has been little in the way of new music that has really excited me. Much of my time has been invested in some fantastic re-issues, The Beatles re-masters, the Neil Young Archives and the amazing Big Star box ' Keep An Eye On The Sky ' to name but three. The world in 1976 looked and sounded a heck of a lot different than it did in 1969. When you went to a club it was most likely a fern bar. The ladies wore hot pants and halter tops, men wore stacked heels and checkered pants. The 1970s had its own stupid haircut: the shag (later replaced by another all-star stupid haircut, the mullet). Navigating traffic on the way to Phish at Jones Beach last Friday, myself and four friends in the car started naming a bunch of great "rain" related Phish songs that could be played in honor of the impending weather. One day after the Cain's Ballroom Music Museum was announced fund raising efforts , the Oklahoma Historical Society announced their plans for "Oklahoma Pop" , a museum about Oklahoma's contributions to music and popular culture.
