William Shatner's records are more-or-less a cultural commonplace now - partly due to the way Shatner has reverse-engineered a knowing wink on to what was, originally, a deadly serious endeavour. Leonard Nimoy's musical adventures, though, are perhaps a little less well known (although nothing like as obscure as David 'The Man from UNCLE' McCullum's albums. There's a thing for another time, though.) Originally, Nimoy stayed roughly in character, with the first album tortuously titled Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space. The second album was a bit different though; one side was Spocky, Trekky stuff, and [...]
Happy Friday, all -- thanks so much for your kind messages while I was out yesterday. To be honest, I'm still not feeling very well, but I'm ...

Photography By Leonard Nimoy You know it's funny, the concept of beauty and all. Who decides that kind of stuff anyways, and why do we seem to always abide by their definitions? It's the television and magazines that do it to us. But we're the ones that reinforce it. I think we just need to have our own personal standards for shit. Our own set of values and what not. We don't have to subscribe to the trends of the day, [...]

![Bruno Mars – The Lazy Song [Official Alternate Version][VIDEO]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3473401_lg.jpg)
What an awesome way to get the holiday started. Bruno Mars has released an official "alternate version" video for the track "The Lazy Song" featuring Leonard Nimoy . It doesn't get much better than this folks. The video is hilarious and even features an awesome Big Lebowski reference who is the ultimate lazy character. So, this weekend, instead of actually planning anything; maybe you should just kick back and do random BS all day or maybe just lay in bed? Enjoy. Click here to view the embedded video. [...]
A "Sunny" send-off for sixties hitmaker Bobby Hebb. Sunny - United States - BobbyHebb - John F Kennedy - Organizations
Click here to view the embedded video. Well ain't this delightful. The Shat and Leonard Nimoy banter back and forth about the time Shatner stole Nimoy's bike during the filming of Star Trek. If this doesn't make you love these two more, then, sir or madam, you have no heart. No heart at all. [ via ]

HEY! Guess what! We made a mixtape for Amanda over at Tadpole Audio of, what was originally supposed to be at least, "children's tales" - please note the quotation marks - called Come On In, Sit A Spell, & Let Me Tell You A Tale Mixtape!!! It's chock full of tales of hobos & hobbits, of murder & robots, mountaintops, mountain towns, & transvestites, stories of science fiction & hippie adventures, [...]
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a fun-filled weekend -- I tried to cram in lots of activities, including Iron Man 2 (enjoyable), Metropolis (also enjoyable on the big screen), the Whitney Biennial, SNL and The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. Boy, are my eyes tired!
The Pop Five is a series of Pop Candy readers' top five lists. Today's contribution comes from Conrad C. (cfcordova) in Colorado:

"In the middle of the earth, in the land of shire lives a brave little hobbit who we all admire, with his long wooden pipe and his fuzzy woolly toes, he lives in a hobbit hole and everybody knows, it's Bilbo!" Tell me, of all the people on our planet, who might be the only one to look strange with normal shaped ears? Yes, gentle readers, Mr. Spock strikes us like a cobra in our eye with this amazing gem. It stings at first, but chicks [...]

Yes, the legendary Leonard Nimoy will be present at Dragon*Con this year. Although I highly doubt he will be performing any musical numbers at the convention, I still think everyone should see this music video in their lifetime. Surely, all of my readers should know who Leonard Nimoy is. Star Trek 's character Spock, from both the original series and the latest film from J. J. Abrams. Leonard has had many ventures in his career since starring as the loveable [...]
(click image to enlarge) This Saturday The Charleston is host to a night of melodic indie rock headlined by former Guided By Voices guitarist Doug Gillard and also featuring Sean!. The flier above is both an advertisement for the show and an homage to Star Trek IV - The Search For Whales Salamander, Doug Gillard's solo album [...]

It's music, Jim, but not as we know it The new Star Trek movie has been in the cinema for a week now and it's actually getting good reviews. I've spoken to a few people I know who've seen it and they've been quite enthusiastic about it. It may take me a few weeks to go see it, though, as I'm going to be travelling a bit over the next week or so. I used to watch the original TV series from the 60s and the Next Generation from the 80s in my younger [...]

"Mr. Spock's Music From Outher Space" bildet die einzige Ausnahme. Das Album von 1967 geniesst Kultstatus, weil es groovy Beat-Versionen des Star Trek- und des Mission Impossible-Themas sowie das Instrumental "Music to Watch Space Girls By" enthält. In den restlichen [...]

I was in two minds (only two?) over what to title this post : Ruby... was certainly a guilty pleasure during my childhood, not cool at all to enjoy country music. But it's an excellent, if understated, story song too - not the classic verse-after-verse sort, but one where your mind fills in all the details & history. You create your own image of a crippled ex-soldier, and of Ruby - contemplating a night out... all made-up, hair tinted & curled; even of the house where our story-snippet [...]

This is a little teaser for tomorrow's podcast, because the playlist became so long that all sorts of good things ended up being cut from it, including three splendid suggestions by Dylan from Blueback Hotrod . As most of you probably know already, for some inexplicable reason back at the height of the popularity of the original Star Trek series a couple of the main characters dipped their toes in the muddy shallows of the Celebrity Music Vanity Project. With some bafflingly bizarre results: Most of you probably know that video [...]
