Just a drummer and a guitarist, who also sings. No, I'm not talking about The White Stripes. I'm talking about Leopold and His Fiction. Just about every piece of press I found on the band mentioned the White Stripes, and now I'm guilty of that, too, but other than the fact that [...]

I need to get the fuck out of town edition : Life's been a little strange lately. Energy is incredibly hard to come by these days. I don't find myself as motivated to update the site as often as I normally do. Winter has taken its toll I guess. Ever find yourself laying around listening to Catherine Wheel records 'til you finally shut your eyes in the cupboard?! That's where I'm at and I can't say I plan to stay there any longer. I'm taking a few days off and traveling out of state with friends this weekend. [...]

The same reason this band may not make its mark on the music scene at large is the same reason you might skip on from the preview tracks posted below after a minute or so, and if either were to happen it would be a real shame. Basically, this is a sound that we are all [...]

A few weeks back we neglected to post about a Swedish pop group that had so graciously reached out to us. And then, as if to thank us for not jumping the gun on our first featured group, along came San Francisco rock combo Leopold and His Fiction. Separately known as Daniel Toccalino and Ben Cook, the duo released its self-titled debut album in October of 2006 on their label, Native Fiction Records. Maybe it's a little too heavy to call it destiny, but the [...]

So it happened, Marshall and Lily tied the knot and this show officially has no idea where it's going . You can pretty much imagine what kind of conversation is going on in the writer's room of How I Met Your Mother : Writer #1: Can I tell you something? If I have to see one more picture of Neil Patrick Fuckface, I'm going to suit up that bastard in a bodybag. Writer #2: Let's have [...]

San Francisco duo Leopold And His Fiction released their self-titled debut in 2006. The duo are comprised of Daniel on Guitars/Vocal and Ben Cook on the drums. On their site they make mention of their diverse upbringing and musical interests. Daniel hails from Motown and brings the boogie-blues to the table, while Ken comes from Kentucky and has a healthy obsession with jazz. Combine them together and you get a nice dose of blues-garage rock, that mashes up the best of The Black Keys and Kings of Leon. If that doesn't get your attention, I don't [...]
Leopold and His Fiction - "Miss Manipulation" Doesn't it feel like the world's in a giant foam party? Except minus the party part. It's a constant physical effort to see what's right in front of you. And after you make it to the kitchen, your lunch is still covered in foam. Driving is tougher, but you get used to it right away, your eyes, now useless, glaze over, and your mouth bunches and flattens, you still, inexplicably, signal. At this point, we pull back from you, and realise that this song is about all of us getting along in this [...]

Leopold and his Fiction is the honest and transcendent San Francisco area Rock n Roll band escalating into the west coast music scene. Their sound acquires a moody pop frame derived from distant genres and unwavering imagination in an attempt to reinvent what each member feels has dissipated from the greater measure of music. Leopold and his Fiction is the balanced reincarnate of a sultry era of western darkness underneath big city lights and country back roads leading to the morning shore of a transpiring musical horizon.--- Essentially a rock duo, Leopold and his Fiction also implement other musicians [...]
There's something odd about the air when Leopold and his Fiction occupies its space, it's fresh but still smells like something that's been sitting on your daddy's record shelf in an uncovered beat up slip cover. The band's songs are a strange brew of Kentucky slang mixed with Detroit grit, at times sounding like [...]
