Welcome back to another new year here at Veritas Lux Mea. We figured almost a month off was sufficient "creative time" to re-energize and renew our creative juices, and we couldn't have picked a better time to return to blogging with all the great releases we've had a chance to feast on over the past holiday weeks. It was interesting during our time off to reflect on why we actually do what we do. I mean, who doesn't listen to music and talk to their friends about it? I guess the only thing that separates bloggers [...]
2007 was a very busy year for both :: clicky clicky :: and our non-blog-related doings, and truth be told 2008 is expected to be worse as far as overwhelming day-job commitments are concerned. If current schedules hold, your :: clicky clicky :: service will be largely dark in September and October, unless we line up some fill-in writers. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Today we'd like to acknowledge at least briefly records that we would have liked to have listened to more and reviewed during the year. We'll give them all a sentence or two in the next [...]
Was digging around tonight in an attempt to locate some information on Les Savy Fav after I heard their track "Rage in the Plague Age" over WOXY.com today. My perusing led me to their website and further on to the Adult Swim music website , where Les Savy Fav have a track, "Equestrian," on the Warm and Scratchy Compilation . You can check out the track below: Les Savy Fav - "Equestrian" If you enjoy that, you can stream Les Savy Fav's "What Would [...]
'There was a band, called The Pots And Pans - they made this noise, that people couldn't stand'. Met deze ironische openingszin begint de nieuwe plaat van Les Savy Fav. Hun eerste volledige studiowerkstuk in zes jaar, singles verzamelaar Inches...
Another band whose live show is more wildly incredible than the music itself is Les Savy Fav. Don't think that's a knock at Les Savy Fav's musical abilities though- the band's catalogue is a pretty stellar one, made even more stellar with the release of the new album "Let's Stay Friends," which happens to come out today. It's been quite some time since we've had an official album of new material from the band, and hearing this record is like being welcomed back into the arms of an old friend. The experience is comforting while at the same time incredibly [...]
Don't be turned away by the thrash, Baltimore's Double Dagger are loud because there's something to be said and no one's listening. Actually lots of people are listening to the music - they were the most anticipated act at this weekend's Hampden Fest (above). But with new full-length Ragged Rubble released this summer, the band maintains its self-proclaimed designcore sound while becoming astute political voices against Baltimore's overzealous waterfront gentrification. A classic example of Baltimore's DIY artistic spirit, Double Dagger have built a bubbling underground buzz fueled by stageless basement performances, limited [...]

Holy fucking shit. We are biting the ever-loving hell out of our fingers in anticipation for the new LP. Exclamation point, exclamation point. (mp3) Les Savy Fav - The Equestrian , from the Adult Swim Warm & Scratchy compilation Godspeed!

This past weekend, and the weekend at the end of March, were probably two of the best of my life. Factoid. Before those two weekends I hadn't been to a music festival for 3 or 4 years, somewhat due to being a very poor student and not having enough money, and a tiny bit due to not having enough enthusiastic friends to go with! Therefore the recent two All Tomorrow's Parties festivals were just abso-blood-lutely amazing. I got to hang out with some wonderful people in a reaaally fun venue (from now on I don't think that any festival should [...]
