Battles has paired down to a three-piece, but the departure of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Tyondai Braxton hasn't quashed my excitement for the new record, Gloss Drop , one bit. (That album title, by the way, is the win). In fact, as long as Ian Williams is on board, I'm on board. The new record is out June 7th via Warp and is to be followed by an extensive multi-continent tour spanning several months. If you fancy having your mind blown, try these guys live. Later this year the band will help curate ATP 's Nightmare Before Christmas [...]
Our Band Could Be Your Life Tribute @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 5/22/11
It's ten years since Michael Azerrad first published his defining DIY '80s scene portrait Our Band Could Be Your Life , which covered an independent music culture that changed irrevocably a decade before that with the release of Nevermind . Round anniversaries make apt opportunities for retrospectives, and in the case of Our Band , this year has been a sort of meta-reflection: between a panel at SXSW, and last night's show at Bowery Ballroom, 2011 has seen a few organized moments of the present "indie" culture celebrating and reflecting on how the blueprint Michael [...]

What Are You Buying on Record Store Day?
In about 63 hours, I'll be throwin' some 'bows at Ear X-Tacy to make sure I get my hands on every Record Store Day release I need. Of course, "need" is hardly the proper term, but when you're standing there holding the last copy of a Japanese Les Savy Fav import on coke bottle clear and orange swirl vinyl - well, that's when "need" is the right word. With that in mind, here is my list of RSD desirables. In looking through the list, there were some entries I logically knew I [...]
Battles, Caribou, Flying Lotus, Les Savy Fav, Marnie Stern, No Age:
We already revelaed the three curators —Les Savy Fav, Battles, and Caribou—for ATP's annual Nightmare Before Christmas shows in the UK. Now comes news of some of the bands those artists have chosen to appear at the event, and it's starting to shape up like another rmust-see event from the organization. Archers of Loaf, Marnie Stern and No Age have been hand picked by Les Savy Fav; Flying Lotus, Walls, and the Psychic Paramount have been added by Battles; and Junior Boys, the Ex, and Omar Souleyman will appear on Caribou's day. The Battles/FlyLo match-up should make this worthy [...]
Les Savy Fav estrena videoclip a través de Adult Swim

Les Savy Fav are "Sleepless in Silverlake"
Leave it to Les Savy Fav to make a video with an interesting array of costumes. It's an amazing piece from the Brooklyn band. Though the video first premiered on Adult Swim the other day, we've got it posted above as well. What's not to like?
Les Savy Fav's "Sleepless In Silverlake"
You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Les Savy Fav fan than me . But I was a little disappointed when Ezra sent me the the link to the band's new video for "Sleepless in Silverlake" calling it the "best song" on the band's latest, Root for Ruin . Despite having spent a few weeks on two separate occasions in Silverlake already this year-I get the sentiment-this track just doesn't do much for me. It's one of the rare LSF songs that ever falls flat. Ezra, I [...]
Watch: New music videos from Lykke Li, Menomena, & Les Savy Fav
Here's further proof that Thursdays are magical: While a random Thursday in January saw the debut of videos from Lykke Li, No Age, and Sleigh Bells, this random Thursday in March sees the release of videos for Lykke Li's "I Know Places (Live on the Moon), Menomena's "Tao" (via Pitchfork ), and "Les Savy Fav's "Sleepless in Silverlake" . Most of us are eagerly counting down the hours to the weekend, but watching Lykke Li and her band rock the moon, or the boys of Menomena get their just desserts (wrassln' [...]
Videos: Les Savy Fav - Sleepless In Silverlake
It's taken from last year's 'Root For Ruin'.
Les Savy Fav:
Is there a band more suited for a video premiere on Adult Swim than Les Savy Fav? Those post-punk goofballs should already just be a house band on Moral Orel or some other show. So here's their fun video for "Sleepless in Silverlake," which features a glamorous L.A. girl gallivanting in a club, and spurning the advances of a nerd. Dips in the pool, trips to the skate park, martinis, and scenic views follow. Les Savy Fav's Root for Ruin is out now.

Battles, Caribou and Les Savy Fav To Curate ATP Nightmare Before Xmas
ATP have announced the details on their second festival to take place at this December's Nightmare Before Xmas in Minehead. It'll be a three-way curated bash, with Battles, Caribou and Les Savy Fav each headlining a night and choosing a line-up of fourteen artists for one day each of the festival.
Battles, Caribou, Les Savy Fav:
Anticipation for the first ATP event in New Jersey on this side of the Atlantic has been heightened considerably by a recent spate of lineup announcements , but the organization is already busy planning other festivals in the UK. Battles, Les Savy Fav and Caribou have now been announced as curators for the annual Nightmare Before Christmas event over there. The shows will take place at Butlins in Minehead and will feature a total of 45 artists, with Les Savy Fav curating on Dec. 9, then Battles on Dec. [...]
